I'm trying to find a way to look up the nutrition facts online for a california roll with no rice. Anyone know a round about figure or know where I can find it? Google seems to be of little help.

You could go to Livestrong.com and figure it out by looking up the different things in a california maki roll. (imitation crab meat, cucumber, Nori, avocado and possibly mayo depending on how it is made).
I miss my Maki rolls!!!  Have you tried Sushi yet?

Yep, i've had it several times. I just pull off all or most of the rice. :)

 Is rice the enemy?

It is for many. It gets stuck easily in the pouch. We are not on very good speaking terms. I can maybe eat a spoon of rice.

Pretty much. If for no other reason than it is a white carb, AKA, no real nutritional value to WLS patients. Protein, Protein, Protein!

What about things like beans and rice. My favorite places to eat is a little mexican place outside of my city limits and that is my first planned meal, beans and mexican rice.

well, i'd wait on that. better first "meal out" choices are actually Wendy's Chili (still eat it all the time after 3 years) and Taco Bell's pintos & cheese. i wouldn't even think about trying rice for at least a year. i just had my first real rest mex meal of beans and a little rice - actually if you wait a while you can also have a little bit of a taco. i eat lots of beans, but mix them with other things, not rice. good luck!

Not a good option. I'd wait on that for awhile. You don't want that rice swelling in your pouch and ruining your night out. Maybe some Wendy's chili or just the beans from this place would be better. Even now, 7 months out, I don't eat much rice. I can tolerate it in small quantities but not a full serving.

Did your doctor or nutritionist not go over the carb thing with you? Rice, bread, pasta, all are simple carbs and not nutritious, plus all can swell in your pouch and cause you discomfort.
