Can you "eat" after taking the Mag Citrate?

I took my Magnesium Citrate about an hour ago. Does this mean I am done "eating" (clear liquid diet) or drinking for the night? The surgeon said no food or drink after midnight. He didn't say anything about after the mag cit. Would it be bad to put "food" back into my system after it was cleaned out?

I would stay with clear liquid (liquid you can see through****il midmight.  Water would probably be best.

I remember that I could only have clear liquids the day before surgery anyway-lots of low cal Gatorade-to prevent dehydration,.  So I definitely didn't eat anything after I started the 'cleanse'.  I think that it would be counterproductive to eat after your system was cleaned out.  Good luck with your surgery!

When I say "eat", I don't mean food, I mean clear liquids. I was thinking about having some chicken broth and a sf popsicle. Do you think that will be okay?

Defiitely stay with your liquid diet... you don't want to get dehydrated. The day before my surgery, after I took the MC... I was able to have broths, water, SF jello and popsicles, no problem. The biggest thing I was told was to keep up the fluid intake to prevent dehydration.

I 'ate" my clear liquid after the clean out, just no red popsicle.

I would not eat after the magnesium citrate.  Water until midnight will be ok.  Dr Torquati was my surgeon, too!  They will take good care of you at Durham Regional - I had no complaints!  Good luck to you tomorrow!  Perhaps I will see you at one of the support meetings!
