Hello all!

Yes, a little Espsom Salts might work fine, as would good ol' Milk of Magnesia, or Miralax, which is tasteless and can be put into any liquid and you'll never notice it.
Not to mention that you just might not need to go; after all, you're probably not putting that much into your system to have to eliminate it every day.
This can be an ongoing problem for RNY; good luck.

Have you been cleared to swallow pills yet? If so I'd suggest a stool softener- if not mirilax and mineral oil would help. Epsom salts would work I think, but I'd imagine it would taste terrible. Also a little lubricant- like KY helps things some out a little less painfully!
Do you have a treadmill? if so stool softener and walking/jogging on the treadmill is my best suggestion- if not definitly walking/jogging outside would help too but I wouldn't go too far!
Hope things are moving along soon, constipation is brutal- most of us here can feel your pain, literally!

Deon,
Be careful about straining. I got constipated and gave myself a case of hemmorhoids - and I didn't think I was straining much at all. I became impacted and had to go to the ER for a very embarrassing exam. Don't let it get this far. My advice is take a spoonful of mineral oil everyday, and use a mild laxative (Correctol) once a week.

Colace stool softners, Smooth Move (I love that name) tea (you can find it in your grocery store with the medicinal teas and it comes in licorce or chocolate flavors), Miralax or Benefiber tablets (they come in chewables too).
Don't strain too hard because of hemorroids. Don't worry--it will eventually come out.
