Calling all "innies!" Do you have problems with bellybutton infections...

No, this is not a “Nik has a solution for you" type post. It’s more like a “can I commiserate with someone?" post.

I get bellybutton infections every couple of months and always around my TOM. I have tried putting A&D ointment in there for relief…no dice. It hurts, it itches and it SMELLS.

Any other ideas? (scratch, scratch...)

Try treating it like an earring infection.  Use peroixide or warm sal****er to clean and soak it in.  Maybe try a benedryl cream too!

That's happened to me before too. I dry my bb REALLY thoroughly when I get out of the shower.  If it gets irritated, I have found Penaten zinc (baby) cream (paste) the best.

Happens to me all the time, my bb has always been real deep so I dry it with q tips after my bath/shower and if it hints at any problem I dip the q tip in alcohol and clean bb. It does sting for a second if there is redness but clears up over night. If any lingering problem I just do the alcohol qtip each time I go potty or?coupla times a day?and at night use triple antibiotic but wa**** out next morn at bath and re do qtip thing. Works like a charm.

Also this may be tmi but I was born with a spinal birth defect and my bootay crack is deep at the top with a scar and I've had the same issue there and use the same routine for it.

All the time... when I was having problems with my stomach (gall bladder) they did a ct and found I had an umbilical hernia so not sure if that adds to it.
I get them randomly.. when they happen my belly button will be very red, itchy and have a SMELLY discharge.. its gross. I try and make sure to pat it dry after showers..  if I qtip it it seems to get irritated so I try and leave it alone even if it is lookin dirty (gets almost like dry skin in it)? I find that a lil neosporin clears it right up... usually in 1-2 days.

YEAST!! Why didn't I think of that, makes perfect sense.

Anyone ever get those corner of the mouth sore spots? My dentist said it was yeast too!. Believe it or not I had a 3 day pack for vaginal yeast infections and I just opened one of the little bullets and rubbed my finger on it and then the corner of my mouth and wah la it was gone in a day or two.

I am COVERED with it.

Document all yeast and rashes... YEAST is cause for insurance to cover the reconstructive surgery.

I'm actually thinking of asking ot have my belly button removed or made into an outie when they do my tuck...  I have such horrid yeast... if there's a crease I have yeast in it.

I know I always say this for pani rashes and belly button issues. I use rubbing alcohol. I get infections and breakdown in my belly button all the time. I have an eerily deep belly button, I would get breakdown before I had WLS.
I dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and clean up the area. I also use a cotton swab to dry out my belly button after showers too, to prevent breakdown. Sometimes it hurts like a beast and I run around like a loon, but I just bear it because I know the alcohol will kill any bacteria. Killing the bacteria will kill the funky odor. Trust me on that one.

IMO it may be a yeast infection. Try yeast cream the next time.
I was getting that - then I really took care of my yeast - took diflucan, went on antifungal diet, etc.  Repeated that a few months in a row (each treatment with 3 duflucan every time spaced 3 days each)- and finally stopped having the issues.
