Ok, it will be 6 weeks tomorrow. I am not a light weight. I need to lose 137 pounds. For the last 10 days I will lose 1 or 2 and gain it back. Basically I am the same as I was 10 days ago!! I am pissed.

I was eating around 400-700 calories a day. usually around 500-600. My nutritionist said get it to 800. I did the last 2 days and gained 2 pounds.

I don't know what to do. I cant believe it! yes, I am starting to exercise. In the beginning how many calories did you eat? What do I need to eat to lose?

I do eat low carb and get 60-100 grams of protein daily. usually 70-95. since surgery I have lost only 18 pounds!! IN  6 WEEKS>

Advice please!!!

What you are going through is an absolutely normal phase of adjustment. You will likely have these every once and again as your body re-calibrates itself, and each time it will scare and upset you, but it shouldn't-- it means things are working as they should.

Hang on by your nails, and have a little faith. It's all you can do.

I don't have any advice because I was eight weeks out on Thursday and have lost 19 pounds.
I am following the rules with the protein and low carb and trying to drink all my liquids. I am not exercising because my knees really hurt from arthritis, which is one of the reasons I had the surgery, hoping losing weight would help my knees not hurt.
I wish you and I both good luck in losing the rest of our weight. I just hope it keeps going down even if it is slow.
I can tell a difference in my clothes. I can wear a size smaller than I was wearing preop. Which makes me feel better.

It is not the magnitude of our actions but the amount of love that is put into them that matters.

Dont' stress the day-to-day weight it will just drive you nuts.  Pick a day of the week or day of the month and weigh in then.  If your NUT said you should be at 800 calories then try to acheive that, anything less and your body will think it is starving and hang on to each and every calorie.  Do what your surgeon and NUT suggest and you will be successful.  Stalls happen, I had my FIRST one at week four or five, so just keep doing what you need to and it will pass eventually.

What is just as important to your long term success is knowing how many calories your body needs each day to function, because this will change over time with your weight and your activity level.  Once you figure that out, monitoring your calories for a true deficit will allow you to modify your intake accordingly and keep losing weight.

Good luck.

You are completely normal! I think your nutritionist is spot-on with a recommendation of 800 calories at 6 weeks. From about 6 weeks to 6 months out, I was getting in anywhere from about 700-1000 calories a day and around 80g of protein.

I know it's hard, but stick with what you're doing because it sounds like you're doing a great job. If you stick with it, the weight should continue to come off, even if it's slower than what you'd like. However, 3 pounds a week is excellent! And it is very normal to stall around 3 weeks, 6 weeks, and three months. Try not to focus on the daily fluctuations in weight and look at the overall trends in your weight loss.

Stay patient. Good luck!!

Thanks guys. I am trying to stay positive here. It is a bit discouraging when I see so many others here drop 20-30 pounds a month.

I will stay the coarse...like what else can I do, right? LOL...its not like I can run out and eat a pizza ;)

Everyone is different.  REPEAT.  Everyone is different.

Man, I know what you are going through.  I was a compulsive scale watcher.  Now, I only check it three or eight times a week, LOL.

I have questions.

Are you drinking your water/fluids?
Are you getting in your protein?

Are you MINIMIZING any items that are not on your nut's plan?

If so?  The weight is going to come off.

I would encourage you (GREATLY) to drink as much water as possible.  I recently hit a stall, eight months out.  I increased my water to 136oz a day, and I am at a steady two lbs a week loss.  It's amazing how big a part the water plays in weight loss.  I like peeing out weight!

Good luck, and keep to your path!

Totally normal! I remember losing very little from week 3 through week 8. But here I am, single digits away from goal (WLS, PCP and PS all think that all I got left is skin). When I began this journey, I had 196 pounds to lose. On the day of surgery, I had 139 to lose, I've lost 131 of those pounds. It seemed slow at the time, but pretty darn fast in retrospect. Do what you are supposed to doing, and if the scale drives you nuts, only allow it to come out to play once a month or so in the beginning.
