HATE TO DO THIS BUT I HAVE A POOP QUESTION
Ok, I have been on this pre op clear liquid high protein diet for 2 weeks and cheated one time 5 days ago. Smacked myself got back on the wagon and have been feeling great . This morning I got up and had a "Never trust a fart feeling" went to the bathroom and had a small bowel movement that was brown with yellow highlights. No, I don't live near a nuclear plant or high voltage power lines. It was kinda runny at first and then went solid. I wiped and the toilet paper was yellow , like yellow brick road yellow !! I can't seem to get a hold of the doctor and the only meds I'm on is septrs ds 800 antibiotic and vicoden for my leg. I take a multi vitamin ,calcium citrate and fish oil pill one time a day and that is it .
HELP I shouldn't have poop anymore this far along right or is it reminince and why is it yellow ??

Looking a several possibilities here.
You gotta poop, eventually, even on a liquid diet. Obviously it will not be consistent with what you might have after a day of "normal" eating.
It is possible too that the antibiotics are killing off your healthy bacteria as well as what they are there after. This may cause the change in color and consistency.
Can tell you I was happy, happy camper this AM. Was 72 hours since I had my gall bladder out and I had not pooped since right before my surgery. I hate to brag but the Jolly Green Giant would have been impressed if he had seen what I left in the commode today!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
I believe the yellow in your stool is related to your diet and a change to your liver and gallbladder. It sounds like it is bile colored and I believe this would be normal. You will most likely have less stool because of just having liquids. BUT..if you develop abd pain, completely runny, frequent, yellow stools I would call the doc and he would probly have you bring in a spec to rule out any GI infection. Hope this helps!
That was me after surgery. Still from time to time now. It got better after I got to start eating foods again, but still happens from time to time. I agree with the last poster. If there is pain, (or dehydration) see a doctor. I only had to do one day of liquids before surgery, so I'm not an expert by any means. Happy poopin!

I'm not a doctor or nurse, but I am a medical transcriptionist who does primarily GI work.
Yellow stools are completely within the normal range of stool colors. The only colors you need to be concerned about are black stools (which means there is blood present) and white/gray stools, which are a sign of liver failure.
The only other things to cause real concern would be bright red blood and/or mucus in the stools, which could indicate a GI allergy or IBD.
But anywhere from yellow to brown are normal colors. Keep in mind that food colorings can alter the color of your stools, as can a liquid diet.
People who have reflux (GERD) also tend to have yellow stools, but generally, stools are most likely to be yellow when food is passing through the intestinal tract quickly - as it does when you're on a liquid diet.
