Pepcid ac or Prilosec - burning pouch

I was required to be on Prilosec for two months, went over by some as I had the pills so I decided I would finish the pack.  That was about a week and 1/2 ago.

Friday I was off shopping with my daughter and needed some fluids, I  stopped at a quick stop and the best choice I could find was a Arizona diet iced tea.  I could of had water, but I chose the ice tea instead.  I only got 1/2 of it down before I noticed my pouch burning.

I have since had the burning sensation when my pouch is close to empty.  I do not know if it was the iced tea, or just that I stopped taking the prilosec.

My thoughts were to start taking them again, but I thought I read on here that prilosec is not a good option long term.  Is Pepcid better?

Thanks for any help I can get on this.

Call your surgeon. You may already have an ulcer. Classic symptom is pain when the stomach is empty. I take Prilosec too because it is what I can afford. As far as I'm concerned, I'm on it for life. Prevacid is the best though, if you can afford it. See your surgeon. Ulcers are nothing to fool around with. Hope it hasnt gotten that far yet.

I take Protonix to protect myself from ulcers and it is for life.  I then take Pepcid chewables as needed if I get burning in my stomach mainly if I eat some type of acidic fruit - mainly strawberries which I love but they don't really love me.

Please get checked out for an ulcer.  Call a GI doctor and get scoped.
