was it piracy back in the day when we made mix tapes for our friends?  That was the big to do back in the 80s and no one knew anything about piracy laws.
With the exception of the remixes (because you can only get them electonically, freely, from the dj's site)  the other music ( Unspeakable Joy and Sexual Revolution)  I own copies of. 
If I lent my CD to you and you copied it to your computer to listen to.. is that piracy?

What about the pod casts that you can subscribe to?

I have no problem taking them down.. I just figured I'd share some of my favorite work out songs.
Heck I could just list the songs and you could download them from youtube if you wanted to.  (There readily available software that allows you to record the song only from youtube into mp3 format for your listening pleasure)

The laws have changed since back then. And yes, anything but copying music you own/have purchased for your own back-up purposes is considered piracy. Think about the musicians who are making their living off of the music they make and sell...when people are just "sharing it" like this, they are basically being cheated out of money they earned (or should have) on their own creativity. I'm not telling you what to do, but beware because someone (no, not me) could turn you in on this.

It's one thing to do it quietly, on the side...it's not like anyone will likely find out about it. But if you're looking to protect yourself, posting it on a public website that you're doing this is not a very smart move.

Um, actually, Sony made a very hefty lawsuit about that in the 1980s-- and yes, it was actually *was* piracy then, too.

Exactly. But many record labels didn't bother to pursue it as avidly back then.
