What Causes Foamies?

I'm trying to figure out what triggers the the foamies.  I think I know one reason:  eating too much.  Yesterday, I measured my protein by ounces and it looked like too small a portion so I added more and ate more than the 1.5 - 2 oz recommended by my NUT.  Not smart - I need to learn to trust my measuring cups/scale and not my eyes/brain to get the right amount of food.  Consequently, I got the foamies later on.

I've also learned to wait at least 30 - 40 minutes after drinking before eating.  My NUT only specified waiting an hour after eating before drinking.  That was also a hard lesson to learn.

But can anything else cause it?  Sometimes I eat the right amount of food - or even less, and haven't had anything to drink at least 30 minutes before, and I still get them.

Would appreciate any help you can extend my way.

My experiences were when I ate too fast...make sure to chew, chew, chew  - put the fork down between bites and take your time.

For me it is all about the chewing.  Even if i only eat one bite, if I rush and do not chew it well enough, i'm done for.  Foamies and then usually a reappearance.  YUCK!!!

I try to be a lot more careful now.  It only really happens with chicken now.  I guess the fibers are so hard to break down.

Haven't had them yet.  From what I've heard it's from eating too much/eating too fast.  Also, it could be something that you are intolerant to.  Try eating different foods and see if that helps.  Good luck.

Below is a copy and paste I did a few days ago...
This reminds me of couple of other things you will face.  One is throwing up.  When I asked RNYers what if felt like...they said it's like baby spit up.  I didn't fully understand till it happened to me.  And yeh, it really can be like a baby spitting up.  The other thing is "The Foamies".  I don't know if you've heard about these or not.  Here is an un-tech answer.  Since there is very little acid in the pouch, most of what is in there is saliva.  When you have problems with the pouch (eating too fast, the pouch rejecting some food, drinking something too hot or cold, mucus from a cold...ect.) you could get the foamies.  This is just what it implies.  The pouch rejects the food and it comes back in the form of foam.  You may not be able to throw up (though you pray and pray you could).  You just stand there spitting and spitting up foam.  Just giving a heads up.  Brian

Its the foamie monster.  For real.

I get the foamies when I’ve eaten something my pouch refuses to process.  Overeating only causes a tightness which usually goes away within minutes (and if I’m smart I leave it at that…if I am not so smart I take another bite and then all hell breaks loose…).

My theory is that the foamies are intended to help make vomiting easier.  But vomiting is never easy.  Never, never, never!!!  Food that it took 2 seconds to eat takes hours to come back up for me.
