B12 injections, under skin or in the muscle?

Got my first B12 injection thismorning. The nurse at the docs office gave it to me under the skin. I always thought it was supposed to be injected in the muscle. Should I feel a difference in my energy level? It's been 4 hours and I don't feel any different. I am ready for an afternoon nap though, probably not a good sign is it?

In the muscle.  The nurse needs a little lesson on purpose.

I take my B-12 shots monthly.  I don't feel a "boost" after, I get back to normal.  More so, I can feel the dragging as the month comes to an end right before the next dose is due.

My B-12 is on the low side of normal (three years post op) so I have added sub lingual liquid.  I have been assured we cannot get too much B-12 as we spill it out in urine if it is unused.  I will let you know if I start swinging on chandeliers or anything.

I don't feel a boost from my b-12 shot either.

B12 is supposed to go into the muscle (unless they are using some new method that I have never heard of...).  I just take an alcohol swab to my leg, get the seringe ready, stab my leg and inject.  Easy.  I don't noice more energy or any other difference after injections.  Even when my B12 is too low, the injections don't "Magically" give me energy.  I do injections every 2 weeks because I am too low right now (plus I do a sublingual form)... and I don't feel anything like a surge of energy.  Gosh that would be great!

Thanks everyone. My docs nurse called, my blood work says I'm slightly anemic also. She said she was gonna call in a Rx to get my iron levels up.

As a nurse I can tell you it can go in either one but most of the time docs say muscle.  I think different docs have different ideas on which route is absobed the best.  I have given in the fatty tissue under the skin though to patients before.

I agree with the nurse as I am one also.  My doctor says either is fine but that he prefers under the skin (subcutaneous).  I usually feel better or a little more energetic after mine.  It is due next Friday and feel I could use it today!!!!!
