I drink them all the time.  I mix the orange in a 16 oz bottle of water with crstal light.  Not my favorite but it does work.   I buy the fruit punch and mix with fuze slenderize punch drink and they are actually pretty yummy.  Best of luck, Raynetta

My Opinion on New Whey Protein Bullets

A lot of people swear by the New Whey Protein Bullets.  but from my own research I am not thrilled with the quality of the protein it provides.  Here's what I know:

Ingredients in New Whey Protein 42g
67.4% pure deionized water, 31.5% Actinase (patent pending blend of enzymatically hydrolyzed collagenic protein isolate, whey protein isolate and caseine protein isolate), less that 2% of malic acid, vitamin c,b3,b5,b2, b1, folic acid, biotin, and b12, natural flavors, sucralose, blue-1 and red 40.

As we know, the highest percentage of ingredients are listed first, with lesser amounts listed last.  So we know that of that 31.5% of protein mixture the highest amount of protein would be Collagen Protein.  Next is Whey Protein Isolate, then Caseine Protein Isolate.  Let's look at each one:

Callagen Protein:
This is the main protein of connective tissue in animals and the most abundant protein in mammals, making up about 25% of the whole-body protein content.  When broken down, collagen becomes a gelatin used in many foods such as Jell-O type desserts.  It’s also used in cosmetics, pharmacology and photography industry for the production of various products. Collagen and gelatin are poor-quality protein sources since they do not contain all the essential amino acids that the human body requires - they are not complete proteins.

Whey Protein Isolate
This is the highest quality protein currently available.  The BV rating is often shown at 110-159 because the BV scale was devised before Whey Protein Isolate was developed and the scale is based on the perfect protein of an egg.  This form of protein has the highest biolavailability of any other form of protein.

Casein Protein Isolate
Casein is a slow-digesting protein source that actually forms a "gel" in the stomach and slowly releases it's amino acid components over several hours after ingestion.  This slow release can last up to 7 hours (for comparison: Whey is released within 40 minutes).  Casein is derived from milk - same protein source as if you drink a glass of milk.  My concern though with this source is because it is concentrated and process to be slow-digesting, the Casein Protein Isolate may actually leave our altered/shorter digestive track before it has a chance to release all of the amino acids it contains.

And just a side note:  The words "enzymatically hydrolyzed" don't really mean much.  Enzymatically just means it's a "variety of protein enzyme sources" and hydrolyzed just means that the protein has been "broken down" into it's basic amino acid component.

So basically with those $3.50+ protein bullets you're paying for 68% water and 32% of a low quality combination of protein (with a little bit of good whey protein thrown in for good measure).

I personally would rather feed my body the high quality Whey Protein Isolate that is proven to be the best for my body, will be processed in less than an hour in my shorter intestines and allow me to use every single bit of what I'm drinking and not waste any protein.

I have used the bullets daily since my RNY in October. I use the 42 gm one and drink 1/2 in the am and then the other half in the pm. I dilute the 1/2 I am drinking with about a cup of cold water and a couple ice cubes. I find them refreshing..not sweet but nice and cold, and it helps with the H2O intake!!
There is some controversy over them for sure, but, I have  very little if any hair loss, I have lost over 70 lbs and feel great!! (I also am able to eat  protein )...My Nut is quite satisfied that I use them as is my Trainer...there is so much out there tht is good and bad said about everyting...do what is best for you.  As an asie, the results of my recent blood work showed an excellent protein level!!
I also use the Very Cherry Nectar Protein for a switch up from time to time.......
Good Luck with it!!

Hi Kathy:   I had purchased the bullets on-line at BAriatric Choice, which ia an online shopping site for people who have had weight loss surgery..I still order other high protein items from them....hot chocolate, tasty flavored protein that is mixed with water..it is fruit flavored and  clear, high protein bars, etc.....;It is a great supplier for those of us *****quire high protein....I am now over two years out and continue to lose, albeit ,much more slowly...
The Very Cherry Protein is also from an on-line  site called Unjury  ..you can google both sites.   Good LUck.....Do check out these sites....of the two I use the  Bariatric choice one most often ...and will continue to do so!!!!!

I LIVED off them the first few months post-op because they were the only protein I could tolerate.

But I would NEVER just drink them.  NOONE that I have EVER heard of likes them that way.

You wouldn't just eat protein powder straight, would you?  You don't do these straight either.

This is what you do to make them taste GOOD!!!

Mix up about 16 ounces of like-flavored crystal light.  (Your bullets are orange, so you'd mix up orange flavored crystal light.)

Then pour your bullet in that mixture.  Shake the whole thing up.  Drink that mixture (1/2 in the morning, 1/2 at night to spread that 42 grams of protein out).  It tastes exactly like cheap orange juice to me.

To make it super-easy, I kept my bullets in the fridge cold.  I'd use a big blender bottle (from GNC - I love their blender/shaker bottles).  I'd take a bottle of water and pour that in.  Then I'd take one of those "to-go" packets of generic crystal light that are supposed to be mixed with bottled water and pour that in.  Then I'd pour my cold bullet in.  Put the lid on and shake that sucker up.  Pour it over a cup of ice.  Yummmmm....

This also works with the grape or fruit punch bullets, etc.

To me crystal light has a tendency to ge****ered-down flavor-wise anyway.  When you mix the bullet in, it doesn't change the flavor at all.  It is just like adding MORE of the orange flavor (or grape or fruit punch flavor - whatever).  You do NOT taste the bullet.  You just taste more "orange" flavor.

You can get those bullets cheaper too.

When I used them (before I quite doing supplements in general), I bought mine by the case (12 per box/case) from www.fitnessfirstusa.com because of their low shipping charges.

Most places charge out the BUTT for shipping liquid protein because it is so heavy (it's liquid - DUH!).  www.fitnessfirstusa.com charges a flat $6 for shipping NO MATTER HOW BIG YOUR ORDER IS.

I usually ordered 48 vials for $108 (24 vials is $54 making them only $2.25 per vial).  They usually let me pick free gifts too.  So I have got to try a couple of their protein bars for free.  I have gotten drinking bottles, etc for free.  They ship it right to your front door (vials, gifts and all) for $6.  They also send you their magazine for free.  The free gifts and the magazine aren't just the FIRST time you order either.  I've gotten them every time!

Also, there is a promo code that you can put in when you check out to get $5 off - that makes shipping $1!!!  The promo code is oconus1.  It has NO EXPIRATION date so it should work forever!

So for $109, I get 48 vials of liquid protein, free gifts and a free magazine.  (I usually have my order within 3 - 4 days of when I place it although last time it did take about a week.)

If you decide to buy from www.firstfitnessusa.com, please use their referral program and tell them that Wendy Fou referred you.  (They give you $50 for every 3 people that you refer, so you will probably want to participate in that too if you end up liking their protein.)

Hope all that helped!

Good luck!
