WLS friendly restaurants--let's make a list...
Thanks for the warning!

We thought we were doing well by waiting a couple of months after it opened to go...no dice! We were told it would be 25 minutes and after 45 when they still hadn't called our name we left because Mike's kids were overly hungry by that time.
Let me know how it is when you go!

So yes, smaller portions and prices--works for me. I love Disney. So glad to hear the sit downs are flexible about the kids menu.
Thanks for sharing.

For me, I find I'm better off w/appetizers than the kids menu due to the food quality.
I find that having an idea in my mind of what I like to eat combined with what I can eat is usually enough to get me by no matter what kind of restaurant I find myself in. Recently I was on a first date at a Mexican place (and my date didn't know I've had WLS and I didn't feel like talking about it). I ordered a shrimp appetizer as my meal. It was the perfect amount for me and I didn't have leftovers.
Now, my favorite thing when I'm eating out is to eat with one of my WLS buddies, or with a non-WLS friend who is a light eater. It makes splitting things really easy. That way, I don't have to deal with leftovers, and I don't wind up paying for an expensive meal.
I have to say, navigating restaurants hasn't been all that hard. The only thing I find frustrating is that the portion sizes are so big. When I don't have anyone to split something with, I hesitate sometimes to order an entree because of the expense, the huge portion and since I know I often don't want the leftovers. (Which is why ordering something that will reheat well is important if you're paying for a normal sized entree!)
Hope this helps!

Chili's has grilled chicken tenders and steamed broccoli on their kids menu.
I've also learned that any place that breads their own chicken tenders is almost always willing to grill them for you instead. With so many people trying to eat healthier, I don't feel I am drawing undue attention to myself when I ask for what I want in restaurants.
