Why I have Chosen RNY

My favorite quote from the first post was this:

..The Mal-absorption WON'T last forever, ...

As if your intestine begins regrowing itself like a lizard tail?  I don't remember reading this during my research.  I remember reading that I am committing myself to supplementing vitamins & minerals for life due to this PERMENANT alteration.

Did I miss something?  Does she know something I don't know...

The OP hasn't a clue. At 5 years post op RNY my window has not closed. I eat a faily normal diet, but I can drop 15 pounds very easily now. I still MALABSORB. That is why I get bloodwork done and take a truckload of vitamins each day. ( and I don't exercise) .

OP, you are entitled to your opinion. You are entitled to post it. Just remember this is where you may want to come for support early out. If you alienate those already here, you will be lacking.
My success speaks for itself, as does the success of many DS'ers. Choose what is best for you, based on your needs. Don't tell others their choice was wrong.

For God's sake, learn to spell. An attorney? I think not.

A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything.

I haven't read this whole thread yet but I will.  I want to point out what others MAY have.  If you had posted this thread instead of the other.  Your attention getting tactics would have failed a bit.

This was a well thought out post, even if there is information in it that we KNOW is not true.  But none of us are perfect and what you don't know now, that is important, you will learn later.

I wish you luck.

I hope you actually READ and COMPREHEND what some people are saying here. It's not about your opinions being wrong, and it's not about the RNY not being the right surgery for you--it very well may be, and that's fine.

However, you are spreading LIES and misinformation to others, particularly that after 2 years out from WLS, the body is basically back to normal. That is just plain WRONG.

For starters, even though the stomach (be it sleeve or pouch) can stretch out over time, it will never stretch back to the full 2-3 liter capacity it had prior to surgery, so you will always have some restriction as compared to pre-op.

Second, the intestinal rearrangements causing malabsorption will ALWAYS cause malabsorption. No human body can have a 100cm common channel and still absorb everything as well as if they had never had surgery.

Me thinks she is just preparing herself mentally for her inevitable failure.  Her profile (which is now apparently private) was filled with 'blame' everybody else and no self responsibility for all the problems in her life.  Lots of things about the Law of Attraction come to mind....bet she doesn't understand that concept either.

I am perplexed a tiny bit. I think I read in your first post that you thought that DSers were "recruiting. Now you continue to go on (and on and on) about RNY which is probably a fine surgery choice for you and that's great.  My question is, could what you are doing be interpreted as the same thing? Just asking, not being mean. Best wishes to you in your weight loss journey.

Life is short, laugh easily, forgive quickly, and never regret anything that made you smile.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hubris

In its modern usage, hubris denotes overconfident pride and arrogance; it is often associated with a lack of humility, not always with the lack of knowledge. An accusation of hubris often implies that suffering or punishment will follow, similar to the occasional pairing of hubris and nemesis in the Greek world. The proverb "pride goes before a fall" is thought to sum up the modern definition of hubris.

I predict the following likely scenarios:

1)  She realizes she's made a complete ass of herself, alienated the very people who could help her, decides to STFU and disappears  Odds: 5% -- this type never goes completely away
2)  She realizes she's made a complete ass of herself, alienated the very people who could help her, decides to STFU and reappears under a new avatar to learn more about the DS.  Odds: 25% -- she MIGHT be smart enough to pick this one
3)  She stubbornly sticks to her current position, goes ahead with the RNY and is wildly successful with it.  Odds:  Well under 20% at her BMI and with her history of being 525 lbs as a teenager and multiple yoyo dieting with huge weight swings -- AND being of African-American ancestry
4)  She stubbornly sticks to her current position, goes ahead with the RNY and fails miserably with it, and ends up bitter and fat again.  Odds: well over 50%

Sucks to be her.

LOL!!! Diana, you crack me up; you really do!

The best humor always has an element of truth in it and I think your post is spot on. I'm not a gambler, but I would lay money on it.
