my final food list for the day...courtesy dailyplate
I know I keep posting this, but I like the feedback and I'm pretty proud of myself today.
I went to the grocery store and browsed all kinds of crap, but didn't buy anything off my plan.
I went to the gym for the first time in about 5-6 weeks. I sweated! and it didn't feel too bad. I mainly went to weigh myself! still haven't lost, but I'm down about 7 pounds all together since surgery 2 weeks ago. I'll take it. I know it's going to start coming off. I FEEL smaller and my waist is measuring smaller, about 3 inches so far.
I'm going to pilates again tomorrow, yeah!

I went by the servings on the container, which after you choose a food on thedailyplate, it allows you to adjust the serving size, like for cottage cheese the serving is 1/2 cup, and that's what I had, but if I had only had 1/4 cup I would have entered .5.
Same with the beans it was 1/2 cup per serving.
Does that answer you question?
Did your Bariatric Surgeon and your nutritionist really tell you, that you are allowed sooo many calories after just being just out????
That sounds crazy to me....I would think that you could not get in more then 300 calorie's at this time..
Please anyone out there..... let me know if I am right about that... This is what I keep reading and have heard at orientation meetings that I have attended... I mean wow many people can just do a diet at 1,000 calories and not have to go through surgery...I could be wrong.. Alizka
NOt sure where you are getting your information, but my protein shakes alone would put me over 300calories. My nutritionist specifically did NOT want us to count calories. She mentioned 3 meals a day, no snacking, always eat protein first and get 60-80g protein a day and shoot for a ratio of 40/30/30 with regards to percent of prot/carbs/fat.
Yesterday was my first day of soft foods, I had 2 servings of cottage cheese, 1/2 cup each one for lunch and one for dinner, along with a serving of refried beans each for lunch and dinner, that alone plus my morning shake is over 300 calories.
The goal of 900 on my page is wrong, it's the lowest i could set on thedaily plate.
With exercise yesterday, i netted about 400 calaories.
So, are you suggesting that I did NOT need surgery because I'm eating too much, and I could have just done that without surgery??
I find your post highly offensive, (and I do NOT get offended easily).
Some ppl here might have been told to eat 500cal/day, or such, but i happen to know very successful post-ops who ate WAY more than that, even early out, and have been very successful.
My resting BMR is roughly 2400cal/day. SO my eating 900/day will produce weight loss.
I didn't get this surgery so I can starve myself on 300cal/day. I got the surgery to use a tool to control my eating and help in my weight loss efforts.
I lost nearly 50lbs before surgery and had to deal with everyone saying "you dont need surgery you just need to keep going!"
SO, since you are so educated, what do YOU think I should be eating at 2 weeks out to get 300cal/ day??
I was not talking about your protein drinks.. I meant food being 900 calories. It just seems that most people here at OH say they can't eat even a 1/4 cup at one sitting.a few weeks after their surgery. So I was just amazed that you could eat 1/2 a cup. So you don't have a real lot to I guess you are one of the lucky ones.. Oh by the way your outfit is adorable.
At least I now know I will be able to eat more then what I am hearing other people say...Thank you for your post...I was terrified i would go through what I did before...you give me some hope now at least..
I had stomach stapling in Feb of 1992.. It was crazy back then!!! First 3 months I was only allowed liquids, 2 Oz's every hour. How crazy is that? Then at 3 months I was moved to pureed foods up to 6 months. Then put on real food.. I Thought I would die!!!! I could not hold normal food down at all for an another 3 months..I was a really big girl! Near 400 pounds. I went down to 190lbs for a few years. Then up to 205-210 for many years.
So I did the next best thing to hold in food, as I was losing my hair, and my teeth were getting really messed up too. From not being able to hold food in. I started just eating all soft foods and mushy things.. The bad thing about that is after several years I was eating things that were not good for me. It was not until a few years ago that I could eat normal foods...and meats. But I still can not tolorate beef or pork, unless it is ground.
Then I started gaining weight... I did not know why I was gaining weight, as I was not eating a lot of food...I didn't find out until I had test done recently...And I was told that my Stomach surgery had finally failed me..my staple line opened up on me and the band went bad too. This was a very common problem I just found out...
Most people who had the type of surgery I had, put most of their weight back on, or even more. Two surgeons that I went too were surprised that I had not gained more weight back..I weigh 241. But I still need to lose weight. I was just terrified that I would go through what happened to me before.. not being able to eat or hold food in.
I didn't mean to offend you I was just surprised that you have no problems holding food in and eating. Like so many people at OH say they do..I wish you the best on this journey. And as long as you are dropping the pounds, you are fine. I really did not mean to offend you. I am sorry if I did. Take care Alizka
It's ok, thank you for apologizing. Sorry if I took your post the wrong way.
I've not had ANY trouble tolerating anything, so far. Not so much as a rumble in my tummy, I did have one day of a little extra gas a few loose stools, but no vomitting, no nausea and no real fullness.
I do hope that changes, I'd like to feel more restricted than I am, but I hear it changes as times goes on, so right now I'm sticking to the plan, and only eating a little at a time.
