slight pain under left breast and in back???
3 yrs RNY post op - I get sharp pains from gas, or from eating the "wrong" foods. Get hot flashes, etc and just need to lie down for 30 min. or so. Now I pretty much can distinquish between gas and eating bad food. I suck up the pain and tell myself -thats what I get for eating it.
Another possible thing, is gallbladder is acting up. If pain is constant for at least 24 hrs and to the point of crying - call your Dr. immediately - might be more severe than gas.

It shouldn't be your gallbladder unless your anatomy is reversed.. the gallbladder is on the right side..Believe me I know..2 weeks after RNY I had severe pain on my right side and passed out..sat for hours in the Er then the pain shifted to right under my breast bone...My gallbladder was messed up and the "sludge" was backing into the pancreas...hence the reason the pain moved...so needless to say...2 weeks after RNY - I had my gallbladder removed...Take the pain seriously..Even if all you do is call at first...better to be safe than sorry...
I started getting stabbing pains under my left breast at about 2 1/2 weeks out and went to the ER, after talking to my doctor. I had some pain and tenderness in my left shoulder and it then started making my left arm feel funny and almost a little numb. I did have some pain previous to both of those in my back between my shoulder blades. The pain would happen when I'd take a deep breath and right before I'd exhale or when I'd cough.
I ended up having a viral case of pleurisy, a lower respitory infection. It can either be viral or bacterial and can take anywhere from a few days to in my case, 3 weeks to get over. You usually have pain on one side of your chest, a stabbing pain, and it can radiate to either your shoulder or you stomach (my case was shoulder). I would have pain off and on during that time, but at least I knew what it was because I went to the ER and later on, my doctor. I'd call your doc and just make sure you are ok. GL!
