what does everyone count?
Well, at my heaviest I was 530. So I had a LOT of weight to lose and still do. My honeymoon period is about half over and I'm more than halfway to goal, so I'm on track. Right after surgery I pretty much ate whatever I could keep down. This didn't work, so my surg/nut put me on the 500 cal thing and the scales moved. And when I'm dilligent about being active, the scales move even more.
As for what I eat, fish mostly (got some in the oven right now ) Tilapia, Salmon, Whiting, Catfish. All of them have a very good calorie to protien ratio. I'll occasionally have some scrambled egg whites with cheese or some chicken, but for the most part, my freezer is packed with fish.
No, I don't mean 500 NET. I mean 500 CALORIES . . . Gross! Look at a bag of frozen fish . . . hold on . . .
Whiting Filets (Wal-Mart brand)
70 calories per 4 oz. serving
21 grams of protein per serving.
(Tilapia, Salmon, and Catfish are pretty much comparable for numbers. As long as you buy fresh or frozen fillets and not the pre-packaged kind like Gortons, etc.)
I can do about 10 oz per meal. That fills me up more than fine. So, in a single meal, I've got 175 cals and 52 grams of protein. You can fill out the rest of the day with whatever before that.
And you'd think that I'd get tired of it, but with the different kinds of fish that I eat with different tastes to each, it doesn't get stale. And occasionally to tang up the taste buds I'll slather on some Walden Farms calorie free salad dressing before I put the fish in the oven and that REALLY changes up the taste. I love the 'Asian' flavor. It's kinda like a thicker lighter version of soy sauce.
