what does everyone count?

I have seen a NUT several times and read lots of info on my own, but as I have discovered....no one knows better than the folks that live this. So, my question is, what do y'all count? I know we focus on protein,(at least 60 grams) and fluids,(min of 64oz)first.....how many carbs, fat grams especially should we aim for - for continued weight loss? I am eight weeks out btw. Thanks for any input

I use thedailyplate.com. It counts everything for me. My nut says Protien and water are key. She also said carbs between 150 and 200 with 25gm of fiber. Fats 40 or less. Good luck.

I pretty much eat the same thing every day, so counting isn't as big a concern for me, but for me it's calories (<500), then protein (60>) and depending on how active I am during the day, liquid (80-128oz)

Okay, I have a question. I normally don't question someone else's food choices, intake, etc. But you had surgery before me and you're eating less than 500 calories a day? That is sort of mind-boggling to me...

I was thinkin the same thing - maybe he means NET calories (after exercise?) cause thats where I aim..

I don't know... I mean, even if it is a net count, I'd think 500 calories can only keep you going for so long. I may be wrong, who knows.

I pretty much eat what I want-I just make sure to get my protein & water. I do watch the fat & carbs, and I only snack on healthy protein items. I was never given a calorie, carb or fat grams count to follow-just protein & water requirements. Good Luck! vicki

I look at protein, water, and calories.  I can't help but focus on calories.  It is habit.  I find that if I focus on proteing, my calories are always fine.  I have also been told that not one meal should have over 10 grams of carbs.  Everyone (and every NUT and doctor) is different.

I focus on protein first and water next...I'm doing over 100 grams of protein a day at least..I've set my goal to 100 oz of water a day too. Because I'm not taking in protein powder I figure I have to go over and above on the food protein to get the same results as if I was having shakes.  I don't much care about the calories or the fat, actually. If I have the regular fat stuff I figure it helps my skin to stay hydrated.. Carbs.. I don't do white carbs. No bread, no pasta, very little rice..I do some cereals (oatmeal, malto meal, cream of wheat) but that's breakfast and it's usually between 26 and 36 grams of protein anyway.. But..I'm not trying for continued weight loss. I'm trying to maintain...I'm two years out so my opinion doesn't really count. Sorry.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!
