Anyone feel they look *worse* after RNY?

So many people do this for reasons that are mostly cosmetic, I had to wonder how they are affected if things don't go as they'd hoped. How does this effect you and your outlook? How are you coping?

I did my wls for one reason, my health. And I feel great, so do I think I look better, yes, but that might be because I feel so great!

you know i HONESTLY did it for my health because i was SCARED... i was 22 yrs old MO felt GREAT about myself and honestly thought i was BANGIN beautiful LOL.. and told EVERYONE how can I look better than this.. im a big beautiful woman! Now im coping with *HOW DID I EVER THINK THAT I LOOKED BEAUTIFUL* ughgh its tough .. i feel so good about yself now.. my health has improved i can do EVERYTHING faster and longer! I can wear any clothing i want.. and truly feel that now I am a beautiful person because of how hard i worked for it!!! Im coping very well but it was a bumpy road getting here!!! great post!!

I WILL remain POSITIVE and by such thought---it SHALL be!

Yes I look better but more than that, I CAN DO ANYTHING I WANT, I am no longer inhibited by my out of shape body! It held me back and slowed me down, try stopping me now, lol! AB

No way! I did this for health resons, and screw anyone that thinks I look worse. I may have baggy skin, but clothes hide a multitude of sins! I'm so thrilled I had this surgery! Of course I'll never have plastics on the legs, and that means I'll never wear shorts in public!

i seriously thought i'd probably have a heart attack and die in my sleep one day. that fear is already gone as i am exercising and all around healthier now. lookwise though, i look different and it is taking some adjusting. i always knew i had no neck and no chin but the fat kind of over compensated for that. i'm getting used to the new me and i still have a lot to lose. i told this story on quix but it made me smile. one of my elderly clients hadn't seen me for a year, she walked into my office and said "judi, you used to be pretty and now you don't look like yourself anymore, quit losing weight!" i love her, i took it in the spirit it was intended and it made me laugh. i told her this is how i look now but that i feel great. she weighs maybe 100 lbs. someone at quix mentioned that they get similar comments from that generation. her theory was maybe that people who lived through the depression think that healthy is having a little meat on your bones. sounds good to me, i've still got lots of meat!! long answer again, sorry. judi

I get the same comments from kids, and I am still over 200 pounds.
