Anal Retentive Number Crunching . . .

I tried posting this before, but I think it got fudged up, so I'm doing it again.

I went in for my un-offical weigh-in yesterday and was stunned to see that I'm still doing well, even after some slight slippage last week (cheesecake flavored hershey kisses are PURE EVIL).

My spreadsheet looks like this:  After factoring in my start weight, surgical weight, current weight, goal weight, and todays date, I figure that I'm losing .80 pounds per day.  Yeah, that's right, .80 pounds per day.  That seems drastic and unhealthy to me, but I feel great.  According to some further anal retentive calculations on my part, I have 159 more days/5.3 months until goal.  I know that's unrealistic.  As I get closer, the weight loss will slow.  I can already see that trend.  But even if I've a few months off, it is possible to lose 300+ pounds in one calendar year and not be a corpse?

Looks like you're about a month ahead of me and my loss per day is similar to yours. I expect the loss rate to slow somewhat after 6 months and continue to slow for the next year after that. At least if you can go by what others have posted on here. But I'll say this: The guy who convinced me to go ahead and pull the trigger on this surgery went from 505 on surgery day to 284 at 8 months out. That's 221 in about 250 days or about 0.88 per day for 8 months.

Dainel your doing great! I lost 175 pounds in a year and I'm still here to talk about it, I can tell you I do not look like a corpse either. The weight loss will slow your right, but you guys tend to loose so much faster - you lucky dogs!

For a severely obese male, I'd say it's doable but I sure as hell wouldn't change my plans to make a goal of it. Try for maximum health impact, not weight loss--- work on your head as well as your body, and it'll all come out okay wherever you land. It will slow significantly over time. It helps if you are anal with numbers (my kinda guy) not just to document it but to graph it, so you can get a sense of the curve as it starts to slow. I was losing 12 pounds a month pre-op, then 10-12 post op until about 6 months out--- now it's about 8-9 at seven months. And where it was happening that I dropped a pound or two every other day, now it sits for weeks and drops in batches. The loss slows *and* the manner of it becomes more erratic over time.  As for the corpse thing-- well, I started at 368 and have lost 150 pounds, and am plenty chubby and full of both **** and vinegar, so I think it's survivable. I'm a numbers girl too. Graph it, it's fun!

Ok, with number crunching and anal tendencies, are you an accountant?  This is one of the qualifications....

Whoa Daniel!  That's awesome.  Work it baby!  I don't think it would be healthy to lose that quickly.  And, as you ger further out and have less to lose, the loss will slow.
