well ive known it was coming but i went downstairs to change out laundry this morning and my dryer is not working. wonderful. my washer is on the way out to because my mother in law who stayed with us for a couple of months would overload it so it doesnt spin out right now. yeah. great. it will be at least 6 months of me going to the freakin laundry mat because it will take that long for my hubby to get it fixed. or buy a new one. its so frustrating. i work a full time job i  dont want to spend my weekends hauling laundry into the dam laundry mat. the hubby doesnt help. im putting my foot down this time. im not going to do it again. hes getting it fixed or buying me a new one this weekend!!!!!!!! im tired of having to fight with him about it everytime this happens. i swear to god we go through a new washer or dryer at least once a year. (thats what happens when you buy cheap ****) last year at this time the dryer went out. we got lucky and had this one given to us but we knew when it was given to us it wasnt going to last long cause it wasnt in the best shape. ive been telling him for 2 months that it was going. urrrggghhhh. im so ticked! he doesnt care because hes not the one doing laundry or having to go to the laundry mat. at least there arent a whole lot of dirty clothes right now but i have one wet load in the dryer and one in the washer. i think i might just take it upon myself to call the repair guy. its getting hot just not spinning so maybe its just a belt. i hope! sorry for the long rant im just really frustrated!

Wow you sure are having a bad day.  My wife and I bought a washer and dryer 10 years ago.  The dryer broke down for the first time a month ago.  I bought a $15 part and away it goes.  The washer has never needed repairs. Everyone I know has washer's and dryer's for years too.  I don't understand why you only get one year of use.  We had 5 of us here for about 8 years but now there is only the two of us.  How many in your family? I hope you guys get a new set soon.  I would not want to go to the laundry mat either.  that's another question.  Why do you have to go to the laundry mat.  I help with the laundry here.  Doesn't your husband help.  Maybe you should get him to help do the laundry then maybe you will have a new set sooner!!!  Best of luck to you!!

Well my washer and dryer were like a $600 set from Sears and the washer broker before the 2 year mark!  So I went to Lowes with my Lowes credit card and bought a front loader NICE, charged the sucker and paid $100 for an extended 4 year warranty!  So it came with one year, so for the next 5 years it is Lowes problem if it breaks and I am paying $50 a month, dont care, it is worth it not to have the time away from home doing it out, or loading and unloading or the gas to the laundromat, well worth it my dear, you work, go do it!   I only hope eventually I can get the dryer to match it, but for now I am keeping the cheap dryer cause it hasnt broken YET! lol

Hot dryer---not tumbling--sounds like a broken belt to me... or worse, the motor is shot.  Belts are cheap...motor--time for a new dryer.

Dryers should last years ..... my last one lasted 23 yrs.  But I am a single woman... and do only my clothes and household laundry.  My washer lasted 12 yrs.   I just replaced both of them last year with big new ones... and THOSE better last until I retire (13 yrs away.)

As for the husband not doing the laundry....quit doing his!!!!  He wears the clothes, he can wash and dry his own clothes.  Once he runs out of clean laundry....he will get a HUGE wake up call.

I can't stand to be without a washer or dryer either but I've never bought a new one. I go to a place that reconditions/refurbishes used ones, so I can get a washer or dryer for anywhere between 50 to 150 bucks. I usually go the cheaper, my last used washer lasted me 3 1/2 years! Pretty good for the 55$ I spent. Just saying maybe you could find a place like that if money is tight and you need a dryer asap. Btw, it sounds like the rubber band thing that goes around the drum inside to make it spin has snapped and broken. This happened to me once, and I am NOT handy, but I looked up my dryer type and went to home depot and got the correct fitting band for a couple bucks and put it in myself by Googling online instructions how to install a dryer belt. Was pretty proud of myself and cost me under 5 bucks!

well my hubby is not the handiest person in the world so im going to have my dad or brother in law look at it sometime this weekend and i HOPE its just the belt and can be fixed easy enough. i think it is because the people who gave it to us thought that was the problem with it and they wouldnt of gotten rid of it but his mom had just bought them a brand new set. so wish me luck!!!

Ok, I'm sorry, but my dyslexia kicked in when I read the thread title and I thought it said "My DRIVER took a dump".  I briefly pictured a bus driver pulling over, squatting in the middle of the aisle to drop a deuce, and then starts driving again like nothing ever happened . . .  Sorry . . . I'll get back to work now.
