Topic: RE: Endoscopic ablation of the pouch?

Upon clarifying with my surgeon, I've misunderstood the surgical approach. He's proposing APC (argon plasma coagulation), not radio-frequency ablation.

I have a new question in the main forum, and I'm still seeking a second opinion.

Topic: RE: revision from lap band to gastric bypass

Thanks so much for your encouraging words. Are you still bloated? Also did you have an incision where they took the lap band out? Mine is about 2 inches deep and I have a home health aide come by every other day to clean and change packing

Topic: RE: revision from lap band to gastric bypass

I had lap band in 2006, had revision to bypass on 4/7/19. It has been an interesting ride so far. Don't worry about the slow beginning. I was exactly the same. My doctor and his nurses told me that the surgery to remove the band and then do bypass is much more taxing on your body that just a bypass would be. It took my body about a month to settle down and stop storing every calorie, then I lost about 20 lbs quickly, now I'm stalled again. It seems that revision weight loss moves a little slower than straightforward bypass. Also, the feeling of restriction with bypass is completely different than with lap band. I kept waiting to feel that intense band restriction and would end up vomiting. It's a much more subtle full feeling that I'm still getting used to.

Topic: revision from lap band to gastric bypass

I had my lap band surgery about 14 years ago with much success, losing over 100pds. I went to a different doctor 9/18 to have it deflated and got an infection from procedure of doctor. Gained 60 pds in 5 months! I just had gastric bypass 4/18 and have only lost 5 pds. I'm still on the puree diet and not eating much. Plus my stomach is so swollen and bloated. Is this normal? Seems like with lap weight loss was much quicker.

Any suggestions?

Topic: RE: Endoscopic Overstitch Procedure

Hi There.....I have just joined the site in hopes of finding hep from someone who had the Overstitch Procedure denied. I am in the process of battling my insurance company because they are saying the Endo Overstitch Procedure my doctor has submitted for is experimental, investigational and unproven. I am in the process of requesting an outside review and can use all the help I can get. If you can kindly share the information that helped you, I will be very thankful.

I had AbFiber after bypass. Is terrible. I take a ablation of 2 others arritmies. The cardiologist explain: dont is correlation berween RNY and AbFiber, but take care with stimulants like coofe and others. You take medicines for Abfiber?

Got it. I glanced at your link to see if that procedure went by any other names because there are a couple of options for RnY's who want some help but who don't want a revision. What you're doing looks completely different. But I'm not a doc so don't know.

You might consider posting this on the Main board and/or in the RnY Forum. There's more traffic over there so a better chance of finding what you're looking for. Or at least finding someone whose heard of this.

Good luck with whatever you end up getting done. =)

Ideally, I'd like to collect some personal experiences As I said, I am seeking a second opinion medically and can pull the full text of the research paper (and plan to look into who funded the research).

I think, mechanically, I understand that the procedure is meant to induce a sort of "fibrosis" in the pouch and over a series of treatments it is supposed to shrink it somewhat. I was advised that this can theoretically lead to between 20-40 lbs of weight loss.

But, I would like to hear from individuals that have undergone it.
