Hi there! I'm in the same boat. I have no restriction at all and horrid heartburn so I make bad choices when that starts going at night (think popcorn and bread type things-it's the only thing that helps now that I can't take Prilosec anymore). The 5 day pouch is crap. It's just liquid for a few days then protein. It doesn't magically make you "feel full" again. I tried it...you can get protein shakes and soup for 3 days and some emergen-c and save 50.00-you're welcome. I started South beach and it's going well-I've re-lost 14lbs (HW-320, SW-277, LW-201, CW-255). Pick something that's easy if there is no time. I'm doing meal delivery and it's taking the prep time out of my hands. I'm starting back on prepping my own food this week since I have off and can take the time. Honestly, there are days I'd rather have the ability to take Motrin than have done this surgery, but I did it so I must keep doing what I can, when I can, to get back on track. You can't just give up...try something, anything to get back on track!
This is not typical, but it happens. If you had trouble with fluids it would potentially be a much bigger issue. But transitioning from fluids to food can result in the problems you are having.
It should start getting better. None of us go through this long term. Once you are healed, you shouldnt feel the difference between a sleeve and RNY.
And RNY is an older procedure, until recently done in much greater numbers than the sleeve, not the other way around.
Hang in there.

Glad to know this! I am definitely sticking to my surgeons direction. I am so lucky that I even found a surgeon to do it, I had such a hard time. Anymore progression of the esophagus issues and it would've been classified as Barrett's Esophagus. I had no issues getting approved once I found a surgeon.
Bypass recovery is like being hit by a Mack truck... that's why they did the sleeve and the band before it !
Its seriously major surgery ... get used to the idea of many weeks of recovery and adhering to your surgeons guidelines.
You were very lucky to get this revision... make the most of it. (((())) hugs
I had the sleeve 3/24/17 and was so successful. Got almost to goal weight but had developed reflux. I had a revision to bypass on 2/23/18. Recovery is terrible so far. And yes, I've discussed all of this with my surgeon but he says this is temporary. For some reason, I don't believe that.
I was progressed to full liquids at 3 days po. I wasn't able to tolerate so went back to clear. At 10 days po I was progressed to purée. Mind you, the only way I've been able to go to the bathroom is with an enema. I was diagnosed with IBS-C after my sleeve. But it's worse than ever. I've been out on Linzess to help with that issue. So back to my diet, I'm now on liquids because I can't tolerste anything. My water intake is great because that's the only thing that doesn't nauseate me. I'm on alternating doses of Phenegran and Zofran. I'm now on more meds and more of a medical regimen than ever in my life. Not to mention, I just feel like crap. Will this subside or is this my new norm with the bypass? The dr said that I would hardly have any differences from the sleeve recovery to the bypass recovery, boy was he wrong! I just need hope at this point that this isn't my new life now.
I'm neither a revision or a DS or lap band patient- so I'm not on the same ride as you, but are you calling your inability to keep food down dumping syndrome? I've never really heard the term dumping syndrome associated with the band. Reflux, or regurgitation, from a tight band/scar tissue is more common.
Are you susre your surgeon will do the entire DS procedure in one operation? I've heard many who want to sleeve you first, then follow-up with the 2nd part of the procedure. A Sleeve could leave you with continued reflux though.

You were hospitalized for 5 days!! Omg I thought it was in one day and out the next like the first time. Did they remove your gallbladder? Was the surgery 6 hours? I'm a single mom with 2 kids. I can't be hospitalized for 5 days. Ughh..I wish I had known that before spending so much money on this and driving 2.5 hours to Raleigh every month for 6 months.
her experience being in the hospital for 5 days may not be your experience.
That is a question for your surgeon.
hi
I am wondering about this I am trying to get a revision surgery from sleeve to bypass but my doctor is not sure cigna will cover this I have stomach ulcers after I got my endoscopy will this be enough for insurance to cover this?
I'm looking to converse with people willing to share the ins and outs. ups and downs of the revision. Me and my Surgeon won't set a date til about April. But im sooo tired of the Dumping Syndrome. Ive had it for ten years. And my daughter is getting older and wants to do things with me. So I'm trying to do stuff with her til she gets to the point she doesn't want to hang with her parents. Plus my band has not worked in year. majority my fault. But Everything I needed to eat, I could never keep down. Its been years since I've been on this site, And hoping to connect with people on the same ride as me.
