Hello all!
Its been a good while since my last visit to this site. I had the gastric bypass December 2006, and a band over bypass revision in 2013. Then had the band removed in 2014 because of complications. Never felt full, weight loss was slow, and it was causing issues with my swallowing, and continuous coughing. I am now even heavier than my original gastric weight. Gastric I got down to 160, I was 22 years old. Completely stupid, and alcohol was a huge factor in my life, as well as an abusive relationship which only worsened my drinking and eating. Having been over 10 years now and some therapy sessions later, I am finding it difficult to lose this weight. What are some recommendations for revision surgeries now? I'm so out of the loop with anything gastric surgery related. Thanks in advance.
Hello congratulations on the restart. I had a gastric bypass in 2010. I started at 314 and got down to 260. For the next 8 years I maintained from 260-270. This last year everything changed. I have gained 12 lbs and I have been frustrated with myself. I started to walk and drink more water but it wasn't enough to get my body restarted. Today my surgeon suggested I do a revision- the duodenal switch. I told him I know I need help but I feared the insurance would deny it.
Without giving you my biography- I suppose I'm saying I need support and I am willing to give support. You have got those!!?
Has anyone had
StomaphyX? - Gastric Bypass Revision?

I went from a sleeve (5 years ago) to a DS. I lost weight the first week. Nothing since, and I mean NOTHING.
I don't know what to do.
Has anyone experienced this?
Can you tell me who your dr is? I am currently talking with TLC about Overstitch but have to do the endoscopy first to see what we are dealing with. I live in Katy as well.
VSG: 5-10-10, Dr. Aceves, Mexicali; RNY: 1-17-17, Dr. Snyder, Houston

Hi BrandiGirl: I have had significant arrhythmia issues with my heart since I was in my 20s and had 3 separate ablation procedures to "fix" those. I still have frequent skipping (PACs and PVCs and brief tachy runs). In addition, my resting heart rate has slowly been decreasing over the past 3 years. My electrophysiologist and my cardiologist are aware and no one seems to upset about it. If it keeps decreasing, I assume eventually I could end up with a pacemaker but I'm not going to worry about it until the time comes. All that said, I had RNY less than 7 weeks ago with all that history. My heart docs both were fine with it and one said it could help with some of my symptoms (could, not would). While I can't comment directly on what your doctors will say with regard to you, if my experience is an example, then you will likely be able to go ahead as planned, although you may be required to see a cardiologist to get cardiac clearance first.
I, too, would like to hear from someone that has had this procedure.
Thanks!

Update:
My doctor is currently trying to get my insurance to approve a "conversion" instead of a "revision". My main concern now is not only do I not know anything about RNY surgery and life afterwards, but I keep reading how people do not lose weight with second surgeries like they do with the first!! It worries me I could be going through such a HUGE life change to not lose much weight. Just a worry in my head as this process continues. Any advise or input is welcome :)
Do you mind if I ask which surgeon and where they practice? Im looking for a surgeon to do revision and am having a terrible time finding one that will do it.
