Thanks for your input! So glad it has helped you. Did you have three surgeries? That's what scares me that it would be technically my third. How has weight loss gone?
??
Yes - this is why I had the bypass done. I too had terrible GERD and wake up from sleep coughing until I threw up. I could eat and it would keep resurfacing. I am now 6 weeks out and am very happy with the bypass as the GERD is gone. I have had a few episodes of heartburn but just heartburn.
I had my gastric sleeve done in 2011. I had a revision in 2015. Unfortunately I have been suffering from horrible gerd and esophagitis and gastritis. My surgeon thinks I need to have a gastroenterostomy aka gastric bypass done. I'm winwonder if anyone else has had this situation? I'm sure not common as this would technically be a 3rd surgery. However I need to feel better my life has been affected terribly by all this. Thanks in advance
Thanks Jen,
IL keep looking. I'm so frustrated. I have an autoimmune disease of the thyroid that is holding back my weight loss . My doc put me on Phenterimine, but I just started. No results yet. I am keeping my calories to 1250 to 1400 every day to no avail. I'm lucky if I have lost a half pound a week. I hate this. I'm so mad I messed up the first time. IL give it a go on the internet and see if I find someone.
Good luck to you, I'm jealous and happy for you all at the same time. I hope you do well.

Hi there Kat,
I'm so sorry for my delay in replying. I've been swamped here and just now getting back on. I'm so sorry you are running into roadblocks. I felt the same exact way. My surgeon didn't do it and referred me to someone. I've also seen several surgeons online who do it. I'm not sure where you live, but I am in Michigan. Maybe go online and search your area or around your area for overstitch. Possibly travel. You will find someone. :) I just had my surgery yesterday. I'm in some pain but I'm been in a mental slump for over a year, as I'm sure you can relate. Some people have negative things to say about this...don't listen to them. I can tell you that it's recharging me. I'm giving it my full all and I'm going to use my surgery, the tool I once had to HELP me eat right again, exercise and not take advantage of what was given to me before.
I am going to say a prayer for you...I know the place you are in. Don't give up and keep searching. You WILL find a surgeon. Mine was paid for by insurance as an endoscopic procedure and i had to cover a reasonable portion that was covered. No biggie. Write me if you need to and keep me posted.
:) Hang in...you will find a way...:)
Jen
I had those worries myself my first opinion the doctor did not do to many band to sleeve revision in one surgery. My second opinion they did them all the time. Not 100% guaranteed but unles something major they do it in one surgery. I had a lot of scar tissue. Was in OR 3 hours and recovery 2. I was up and walking that night. I have to say I thought it was much less painful then having band put in. I was on pain meds the first day in the hospital. But when I didn't use the pain pump the removed it the next day. I took a half of a pain pill when I got home from the hospital because it was an hour ride. I'm 23 days out and doing well. Good luck on your surgery.
looking for others who have had lapband to sleeve surgery in October 2018. Looking for support and updated with progress.
Correct. My port is on the right side so maybe it was supposed to be on the left. Thank you.
I had it done last Monday, but I had a ton of adhesions from previous surgeries. I have lost about 4-5 lbs since surgery. I haven't had any reflux at all since surgery. I am happy about that! Weight loss and malabsorption issues, we shall see. My surgeon said he did not take it as far down the duodenum as a regular bypass so I wouldn't have as many issues as a regular bypass. I guess this is what mini bypass means? He never used that term though...
I was band to sleeve in 2 surgeries. I'm now 5 years out and may need to convert to rny due to developing severe GERD. Good luck with your surgery.
