Hello,
I am scheduled to have RNY revision to DS on 11/21/2018. I was wondering if anyone else has had this type of revision and if so, how did it go? Did you have any complications? How much weight have you lost? How long did your surgery take? I meet with my surgeon tomorrow and will ask quite a few questions, such as what exactly will be done. Do they undo the original RNY? I'm also having a hiatal hernia repaired and my gallbladder removed and was told the surgery would only last 2-2.5 hours. My hospital stay will be the same as it was with my RNY - 2 nights.
Thanks in advance,
Amber
Oh wow. I hope your recovery is going well. Right now we are jus****ching everything. My GI is pretty conservative when it comes to any type of invasive procedure. So far medicine seems to be working pretty well. It's about time for my next endoscopy so I'll know relatively soon whether or not I have any more ulcers. He wants to avoid revision surgery if at all possible because he knows how extensive it will be.
Any update on your progress? I just had revision for ulcers and they had to take most of my pouch in addition to the majority of my remnant. Wondering how you are doing now..
So, I had surgery Wednesday for marginal ulcers. When they got in everything was so damaged and scarred down they had to remove most of my remnant, majority of my pouch, and part of my small bowel. Held in hospital for fluid/electrolyte administration until Saturday afternoon. The original surgery was not for weight loss but for quality of life, I could not go a day without pain and/or vomiting. I was told there likely would not be a large amount of weight loss.. probably because I was not successful with original RNY. After surgery they now say differently, that because of the amount of stomach that was taken there will be weight loss. Unsure of how much. Anybody with any insight? This seems to be atypical and I'm in uncharted waters.
Sounds like you're on the right track and Im glad it's working for you. I hope you get some relief soon with the stomach pain. Im sure you're body just needs time to adjust. Good luck on this new journey! I'll definitely talk to my doc. ??
Hi Kim!
Feeling better every day. I do have some stomach pain but I really think it's coming mostly from my ulcer. I do have residual pain from the procedure though but I'm at work my biggest issue is fatigue right now. I'm not eating much. Lots of protein shakes, soft food like mashed potatoes, applesauce, cottage cheese, avocado, but when I do it, it's not much. I do have a sensation of being full that I didn't have. So far I've lost 8 pounds. I think I've been I've been in starvation mode and haven't lost much in beginning. I'm expecting more once I feel I can start to get on my elliptical soon. Feeling good though...thanks for asking! Maybe talk to doc and get some more info to see if it's right for you? I hope so.

Hi Jen!
How have you been feeling? How has eating and drinking been for you (e.g. tolerance and amount)? Are you losing weight since the procedure? I am interested to see if this helps with holding food in the pouch and digesting it better but am nervous. I dont want to get it and feel worse.
Talk soon!
Kim
My doc told approx 40 lbs, but like I said above, it has recharged me to use the tool I was given 15 years ago with RNY. I'd like to lose 75 but with my age, 46, it's going to be slower. After my procedure, it was rough for about 4 days but I'm feeling better. I'm exhausted because I am not eating much. I am on soft foods, but my doc told me to eat when my body tells me too. I feel like I will be on soft for at least another week. It's been 10 days and my stubborn body is still holding on to every bit of fat because it's in starvation mode. I've only lost 5 pounds but know it will come off soon since I'm not eating much.
So glad you found someone. It will happen for you. Keep us posted and we can all be a support system for each of us.

I just had the Overstitch procedure. I'm only 10 days in but I've had heartburn because of it. It should go away. They also found a ulcer which I believe is contributing to problem of burning as well. They were able to tightening the opening and also tighten my pouch a bit.

may i ask was it that you could eat any type of food even in any type of quantity?
