FROM VBG to RNY

Just wondering if anybody has experience going from a VBG to an RNY. I had a VBG in 1992, but had to have the band removed a couple of years later. I had hoped to have a band, but the surgeon said my only option is an open RNY. I would love to hear from anyone that has been through this. Thanks. Janet
