Has anyone from Ky ever had Medicaid pay for a revison or know of someone who has had a revision approved by Medicaid? My surgeon seems to think I may not get approved. I need help. If anyone has any ideas in case I get denied, please email me them. I am desperate to get approved. My stomach pouch wasnt made small enough and even though I lost 110 pounds and no longer have co-morbidies, I need a smaller pouch so I can lose the rest of this weight. I weigh 242 and my BMI is still 40.3 Any suggestions?????

Keep me (us) posted. I didn't know our RNY stomachs could have revisions to make smaller, but that is a good thing. You can email me direct.

When I asked my surgeon how he was going to do a revision...he said it would still be an RNY surgery....he just will make the pouch smaller....once the new pouch is stapled...the old staples will be removed. I will keep you posted.

The Revision is just like the original surgey. They didn't bypass the intestines this time. Just closed the stoma and restapled the stomach. This time they cut out part of the stomach. I think scar tissue was an issue. Not sure if everyone gets it done. Also, just read in the newspaper that Medicare is starting to approve surgery. Not sure if the same as Medicaid.
