Can someone please tell me what DS is? Is that duodenal switch? Do you know is that the only procedure they can do after a lap band or can they do RNY?

Hello Yes the DS is the duodenal switch you will also find info looking up the BPD/DS which is the billiopancreatic deversion with duodenal switch. After the lap-band they can do an RNY or the DS but the DS is usually reserved for people over 400 pounds. Good luck micah

Try checking out the DS board here at OH: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/DS/posts.html And it is NOT reserved for patients only over 400 lbs. Many patients around 300 lbs are accepted for the surgery. You can ge more info at : http://www.weightloss-surgery.com/faq.html And: http://duodenalswitch.com/ I am being revised from an "old timey" stomach stapling from 1982 to a partial DS by Dr. John Husted in Nashville, TN, his site has info al all 3 basic WLS, RNY, Lap-Band and DS: http://johnhustedmd.com/ Good luck on your researching!!
