Hello folks - I come here from time to time to read your experiences with revisions and wanted to post that I will be having my revision from VBG to GB on Feb. 17th. Although I'm maybe on the lighter side of the proverbial scale (currently 217), I have gained 25 of the 40 pounds I lost from a lap VBG done almost 4 years ago and didn't want to wait til I got back up to starting weight to convert. I have to say, when I read everyone's posts about regaining - it scares me more than the surgery itself, and the thought of the knife alone is enough to send me into a panic attack! But I'll calm down! I'm amazed at how many people regain after a few years post-op GB. I knew immediately after having my VBG that I had chosen the wrong surgery but I worked at it and exercised like crazy for almost 3 years and the most I lost was 40 pounds! I hope I won't have that same experience again and I'm trying to psych myself to do this all over again, but with better results this time! Anyway, my surgery is with Noel Williams in Philadelphia (HUP) who was my original surgeon. I'm praying he doesn't find any complications once he gets in there. I'll be so relieved when this is all over with and hoping it all goes smoothly without a hitch. I'm trying to keep my mind and thoughts positive, but in the meantime, trying to get prepared too! Would anyone who is a little bit out from their own surgery please refresh me on the "diet" phase for the first month - I think I want to start shopping now for post op life. I have 3 busy kids ages 15, 12 and 11 and a busy self-employed husband and I want to be as prepared as I can for the losing life after surgery! With many thanks - Dori

Hi Dori - Just had my revision last week and all is well, it was actually easier than the first - maybe because I was so apprehensive because the 1st was so painful and I really didn't know what to expect. The surgery went very smooth, I walked a lot which helped to work out the kinks. I just read a post from "Dee Dee" who has listed the first few weeks of the post-op diet. You might want to check hers out. I'm mostly on broth, sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello but I've now graduated to very soft foods, i.e., sugar/fat free yogurt, skim milk, low fat cottage cheese and very soft chicken/turkey etc. I've been ok with these. I have had a lot of heartburn since the surgery so I've been cleared to take pepcid. You may want to ask your doctor about nausea and heartburn before your leave the hospital. Make sure you ask for a binder as this is amazingly helpful for support, so you don't feel like everything is going to fall out). You're in my prayers dear, can't wait to hear from you and how well your surgery went. Lots of hugs!!
