Scar tissue

I had my lapband 15 yrs ago, had it emergently removed 12 yrs ago, and a hernia repair 5 years ago. My scars overlap from my chest to my pelvis. I have my first appointment with my surgeon to discuss getting the sleeve gastronomy tomorrow. Has anyone had revision surgery who had a lot of scar tissue? Did the surgery start as open or laparoscopic?

it is scar tissue build up on the INSIDE of your body tissue that is the problem, not the scars from the skin incisions on the outside skin.

Internal scar tissue is called adhesions and they form like a huge spider web on the inside making surgery often more difficult. They can be surgically removed but often reform.

it is a very common thing for some ppl after any surgery, not just wright loss surgery.

Make sure you find a doctor who specializes not only in weightloss surgery but someone who is good with other aspects of surgery. I had to go to a specialist and I am happy I did. I have super small incisions that are virtually painless. My surgery, due to the mess inside of me took 5 hours. He said he may have to open me but because he was very killed did everything laparoscopically.

Good luck with everything :)
