Band to Sleeve 10/10/17

I was banded in 2009. The most I lost was 30 lbs, which I have gained back. I have had nothing but pain and problems with the band. I tried for revision surgery in 2013 but insurance denied the revision. I will now be doing this self pay to get it done. I am nervous and scared but can't wait to get this foreign thing out of me and hopefully be successful with the sleeve. Prayers and any advice from others that have revised from band to sleeve would be most appreciated.

I am having surgery on Thursday to remove my Realize band, and do a revision to VSG. I had my band since 11/2008. I will let you know how it goes, if you friend me you can follow my posts. Yes, I am scared and nervous. I am committed to get healthy once in for all. Good Luck and prayers.

If you have issues with reflux, heartburn or GERD please be very cautious about getting the sleeve after the band.

I am not knocking the sleeve at all as it is a great surgery, but it can cause GERD and if you had the band there could be damage to your stomach and esophagus. I am just speaking from band damage experience. I had reflux/heartburn so bad that the sleeve wasn't an option.

I would hate for someone to from band to sleeve and then have to revise again.

My dr does many successful band to VSG REVISION. He had me get an upper GI to check for band position and erosion. He said there is no erosion just a slipped position. I haven't had any problem with reflux or gerd. I hope all goes well.

My band to VSG is Oct 18! I hated the band. Lost 50 lbs and gained it all back. I'm excited about the VSG but nervous. My insurance approval was positive but took 4 months. I wish I had done this sooner too! I had my band since 2008.
