BAND TO BYPASS
Don't look at it as a failure. Look at it as a learning curve. Lap bands, in my opinion, are not really a great option. I have had two that mechanically failed. One slipped and the other began to perforate. I revised to a RNY. Although I have lost weight I found that more of my issue is metabolic and I need to have less absorption. I personally am looking to revise to a DS. Had I known of DS back in 2006... I would have never had a band or RNY!
Think of all this time as a way to learn the do's and don'ts of WLS. Honestly a band, a bypass, a sleeve, a DS, are all just tools. The main focus is learning to change our behavior and thoughts of food and activity. Breaking the cycle of any emotional ties that we may have, teaching ourselves better eating habits, as well as incorporating more activity in our daily routines. All go hand in hand.
Best wishes!
Love my bypass and wish I'd revised years earlier. Infinitely better than the band.
