Did anyone have the original surgery with one insurance and the revision with a different insurance? Were there any problems or delays due to this?

Hey Wendi!

I had BCBS in 2011 when I was sleeved, and now I have been approved by UMR (United Healthcare) for a revision to DS. I had no problems but had to provide my office with old records from that surgery for insurance to review. No delays at all for me with insurance. My physician told me that the insurance looks into the reason you want a revision. Hope this helps!

I did and I had no issues. My original surgery was covered by Anthem Blue Cross and my revision was covered by Aetna. Aetna approved my conversion to RNY the day after the request was submitted.

Hi,

yes I had initial with Cigna and revision (VSG-VSG) with BCBSTX, had no real issues. Although i do have to say that coverage does vary from insurance to insurance, plan to plan, even employer to employer.

wishing you the best!!
