I believe the point is that you cannot gain a pound... if you lose a lot, that means you can lose weight on your own and don't need the surgery. However, I've read that they go with the initial weight.

I had all the fluid taken out of my lapband to prepare for revision. My surgeon said he expected that I would gain a little weight. I guess I will call the office and ask the nurse to clarify what I am doing. The step by step guide they gave me left out this part, I guess because each insurance's requirements are different.

I gained about 10 lbs during my 3 months. I think they just want to see that your trying (which I was), and understand the significance of the surgery and what's expected of u.
