So far for me, I'm losing pretty fast, I'm within 9lbs of my lowest banded weight waaay quicker than I thought I'd be so I'm hoping I surpass it. So far the dr's prediction on weightloss has not borne out. I'm hoping it continues that way ;)

You "think" you are eating less? That's going to cause you a lot of trouble in the long run. You need to KNOW.

Weigh and log your food. Every bite.

Hi...thank you for your reply. The message I am getting from most people is that I need to start weighing and measuring my food. I will do that and not trust my stomach:)

Hi everyone. This is for the revision people in here. I am 13 days out from surgery and I don't feel any different except that I think I eat less. I've only lost 16 lbs and today the scale didn't move. I don't feel any restrictions because the band from my previous VBG is still in place so no different feeling from before. And I don't get this dumping everyone talks about. I was revised from VBG to mini gastric bypass. What have been your experiences? Thank you. Dawn

Am I reading this right? You still have your band from the VBG? Why on earth did the surgeon not take that out?

Not everyone dumps. I think its around maybe 30% of bypass patients dump and I'm not sure what the stats are for mini gastric bypass patients. Was there a reason the surgeon didn't perform a full gastric bypass?

Are you measuring/weighing, and tracking your food intake?

Hi there....yes I still have it. Apparently because of the amount of scar tissue in the area he decided to leave it in place.

He did the mini because of what was going on inside already. I've read up on the mini and it's just as effective if not more effective as the regular gastric bypass so I don't have a problem with the decision he made.

I didn't realize that not everyone experienced dumping. I just assumed everyone did.

I am tracking my food, although there isn't much to track since I am only 2 weeks out I have still in the liquid stage.

Thank you for your reply

I'm going to be real honest with you. I am very surprised that your surgeon left the band in.

I had the lap band for over 10 years and for the last few years of having it in I had horrible heartburn/reflux and was eating numerous tums daily to get relief. I had all of my fill taken out and still had issues eating dense proteins and the heartburn just kept getting worse. There were times that even eating ice cream or a protein shake it wouldn't go down.

After a years fight with my insurance I was approved for a revision. Just over two years ago I was revised from the band to the bypass. My surgeon told me afterwards that it took him over an hour to chisel the band out due to all of the scar tissue that developed around it. All the pain I was having and heartburn was due to the scar tissue squeezing my band tighter and tighter. There was a bunch of inflammation around the band and he had to take an extra 2inch piece of my stomach out due to damage by the band.

I really, really hope you have no issues due to the band being left in. If there is scar tissue then it can continue to grow around it.
