I had a roux en  Y in 2002 and gained my weight back. Do you think there's a chance that I would be approved for a revision or do you have any advice on how to move forward? Thanks!

I'm not sure.My insurance didn't want to approve the revision because they thought it was for weight loss.My Dr did a Peer to Peer review with them to tell them it was about severe acid reflux. Then they aproved it.They are pretty picky.

I revised from Sleeve to RNY in July, 2016 to treat/cure my severe GERD.  If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer.  Sharing my experience is a really broad question!

Stacy how different is life being revised to RNY? Are you still able to eat many of the same foods you were able to eat with your sleeve? I see my surgeon this coming week and I'm planning to ask will my sleeve remain in tact or will it be changed to a pouch. Not sure if I'm posing that question correctly. Have you heard of remaining on PPI's to aid in healing for a few months even though the revision is supposed to relieve us from GERD.  I'm also hoping to get some additional weight loss from my revision as well although I'm hearing I shouldn't expect to lose much.

Sorry. I didn't get notified of this post. The biggest difference is that I dump. So sugar Ana high fat foods are out for me unless I want to be miserable. I could eat everything with my sleeve. I take Zantac but I'm off PPIs but I was on my PPi for 4 weeks post surgery and then weaned off. I no longer have a sleeve but I do have a pouch. That's the whole point of the revision. Finally weight loss (for me) was much slower. I had gained about 12 lbs because of all the crackers I was eating prior to my surgery. It took me 6 months to lose that weight and get back to goal
