Lapband to RNY
I had my LapBand Surgery back in 2010. It was never a super success with me. At my lowest I lost 50 pounds from my original weight, but over the years it came back. I had gotten to a place where I could eat whatever I wanted and not gain weight so I thought I was happy. This was only 20 pounds below my original weight. In 2015 I got pregnant and they took ALLLLLL my fluid out. This was so sad for me. To lose my restriction had me worried and admittedly a little excited. I could eat whatever I wanted and not worry about getting stuck or running to the bathroom to vomit. So during pregnancy I ballooned and then dropped it all after having the baby. then gain pretty much all of it back and then some.
SO, here I stand ready to get fills again. I go in and they start slow with 3 CCs. I had 7.1 before getting pregnant. When I went in for the second fill they couldn't suck anything out of the band which means they won't put any in in-case I get in trouble. They have tried 3 different times and they still can't fill it. I visit my surgeon for a follow-up on Thursday and I am hoping to start on the path to revision to an RNY. I am done having babies and am ready to find the real me underneath it all.
The idea of another surgery is a little more daunting now. I don't want to fail again. I want to be strong and fast and do all the things! Sigh.

I think you will be very happy with the gastric bypass revision. I had my lap and from 2007 through October 2015. I had to have it removed because it slipped. I lost 100 pounds and kept off 80 pounds. I was really sad to lose the band. Well, fast forward to a little over a year from revision surgery and I've lost 102 pounds! I have felt so much better with the Bypass vs. the band. I can eat any food I want and don't get sick (I don't eat high far/high sugar foods now). No more getting stuck, no more throwing up. It's really amazing.
i wish you the best of luck with whatever you choose to do. If you have any questions let me know.

Banded 3/07 -HW 350+, Height 5'3" SW 338, lost 100 pounds, maintained 80 pound loss
Revision to RNY due to band slip 10/29/15 - SW 260, GW 140, CW 153
I was revised from a lap-band to the RNY 10-27-2016 and I'm not sure it is working for me. I lost 25 pounds by my 12-9-16 appointment but have not lost anything since. Im nauseated almost 24 hours a day. I am currently on meds for the Nausea but it is really not working. I feel horrible and I'm not sure I can deal with this for the rest of my life (when will it stop).
I also had the lapband in 2010. It was not very successful. I lost about 50lbs but there was a lot of vomiting and things getting stuck. Finally in 2014 I realized I could eat anything and felt no restriction, but had terrible GERD and as a result the doctor would not add any fluid for a fill. In Nov 2016 I had revision from lap band to gastric bypass and it turns out the band had eroded into my stomach, liver, and pancreas. The doctor had to do a lot of "chiseling" and part of my stomach could not be saved. I am now almost 6 weeks post op and I am SO GLAD I had this revision. I feel so much better! I am losing weight. I am learning what I have to do to make this right. My small stomach pouch is NOT forgiving if I eat more than about a half a cup max. But I have energy. I think you will find that you wish you'd done this sooner. I sure do. Best of luck to you!
Hello,
I had the lapband surgery in 2006 and just revised to RNY on 9/23/2016. This was the best decision I've made. I've lost over 50lbs and have only gotten stuck 2x and both of those were because I didn't chew enough. I wish I'd made this decision earlier! However I don't think I was in the right mindset to do that. I wish you the best with your decision.

Omg, rny is 200 times better than the lapband, I can eat real food, no resorting to sliders and eschewing healthy things like salad and meat and other non fatty protein sources. No more reflux and vomiting. I'm down 61 lbs since my rny on October (though I'm told that is unusually fast for a revision)
