I will finally get rid of this stupid bad and revise to bypass on September 23rd. I'm very excited and yet very nervous. I daily go back and forth about the decision. I worry about the surgery itself and all the re-routing. I worry about learning how to deal with head hunger. I worry about loosing hair as my hair is already painfully thin on top. I look forward to having this constant pain from the band gone and getting myself to be as healthy as I possibly can. I've already worked on making sure I exercise at least 4 times a week and have changed many of my eating habits so I'm feeling good about that. I appreciate all I read on this site and all the support people give each other. Here we go.........

I think you've made a great choice. I was also apprehensive about revising to the gastric bypass, losing my hair, feeling sick, etc., but I'm 9 months out from my revision surgery and feel great! I think your exercising now will help your recovery and if you make sure you treat your body well, especially with water, vitamins, calcium, and protien, you'll have nothing to worry about.

i was worried about my hair and had maybe a little more hair come out than usual, but I have thick hair so it wasn't so unusual. My hair was back to normal by 6-7 months.

Head hunger is really hard, just being honest. But in all honesty I'm rarely hungry so if I'm distracted I could easily skip a meal (I work really hard to avoid that). I think I was a bit down after surgery for giving up my friend, food. However, I felt so much better eating food than with the band. Eating, even smaller and healthier foods, is so much more enjoyable. I forgot how wonderful steak was because my band hated steak. I also love shrimp and the band was fickle with that. I always feel satisfied after I eat.

i wish you much success and let me know if you have any questions.

Hi!  I finally got a date too, mine is September 26th, a few days after yours!  I have the very same fears you have and also have very thin hair.  We will have to be sure to get the protein and vitamins in (because I look horrible in a hat, he he)! We will have to be sure to follow each other.  We can do it.  I too love this site, there are so many helpful people.  I can read for hours!  Good luck sweet girl!
