Step to having a revision surgery

I need some advice. I had the gastric sleeve back in 2013 and due to gaining 68lbs back, I've discussed with my Dr. on having a bypass done. I was curious on what the requirements were before I could have my revision done. I have blue cross blue shield of Michigan and wanted to prepare my self for the steps. We discussed having to see a dietitian for 6 months, but didn't know if this was normal. Any information would help!

I recently had revision from RNY to RNY IN  June. I  was only required to lose 10lbs with two months being supervised. I did have to have a stress test redone and that's all but I also self payed my revision surgery and bypassed all the insurance requirement's.Hope this help you..good Luck!!

If I may ask how much did it cost you to self pay?

Since you already have the sleeve, you have the first half of the most effective weight loss surgery there is - the DS. It would be a shame to have your pyloric valve cut and your stomach cut up that much more. You need to find an actual DS surgeon.

What's the difference between the two?

I also had mine in 2013 and gained some back but I have super bad GERD and thats why he told me we need to do the RNY. And They approved it. I Have BCBS of Michigan as well. I see DR,Katz in Novi

All I had to do was a Health Clearance

Phyc eval

the office said I would have to do a 6 month diet and I was like this acid is killing me now and she is like do you want

me submit without the 6 month Diet I said yeah shes like they wont approve it. 7 days later she calls and  tells me it was approved lol.

I still get bad acid reflux. There's days where I taken my prescription for it that I still need to take something else. I never discussed this with my doctor, but from the sounds of it I should.

Yes you should. He did a scope on me and said RNY it is. So it has all been pretty quick for me.

How long did the approval take you?

I went in for the scope 6/6/16 He told me what he wanted to do right after I woke up.

3 days latter the office said They could mail me the paper work I needed to do such as phyc eval

and medical clearance. So I went to my reg doc got the clearance he did some test on me

blood work xray of my chest because I has a slight rattle in my chest it was due to a cold and allergy.

I called the same doc who did my Phyc eval back in 2013 he got me in that Friday and took about a week

for him to get the results back to me. Got all the info faxed and into my weight loss office and she

submit it on July 1st I knew my date by the 14th That is with the doc looking over all the paper work from the insurance

company and everything. I thought it all went pretty quickly.
