Hello

I am going to have my band out because it's causing a lot of reflux problems. I can't get approval from insurance for a revision unless I do a 6mo diet. So my question is should I have the band out now or wait for 6mos to do it together?

thanks for any Advise you might have.

Probably something you should discuss with your Dr. Sometimes there is too much damage to do the surgery all in one sometimes not. Also depends on how severe your issues with the band are now. What is your gut feeling? Might be easier for us to share out thoughts if you share a little more info especially how you are coping with the band at the min. Good luck whichever choice you make. What are you thinking of revising to?

Hi Norma,  Dr. Pohl is my surgeon also.  Last year I had my band out and revised to the bypass all in one surgery.  I also had my gallbladder out so it ended up being a 3 for 1 surgery.  If you can last the 6 months with your band I would wait, if not get it out and then once your approved for the revision have it done.

What does Dr. Pohl suggest?  He said it was up to me, but if there were to much damage from the band he would take it out and then wait 3 months.  I was luck and didn't have to much damage and the scar tissue was easy for him to remove and be able to do the bypass.

Just wondering what you decided ? I'm my opinion, if your stomach is healthy enough to do it in one step I would, if you can wait it out . I wanted to only recover, go under anesthesia and pay for it as well all in one trip... Pre admission testing, registration, starting an iv, just the whole experience is such a big deal, just wanted to do it all together .

Hi. I did 6 months nutrition classes and my surgeon did everything in one operation on May 4th. Feeling blessed.

I had a band to sleeve revision in 2008 an it was in one surgery.  One set of surgical risks, one set of infection risks, one time of having to take time off work for a recovery, etc.
