Hmmmm... I've never heard of that. I've only heard of getting a band over your rny

Reversing the RNY is a complicated surgery, and I only know of a few surgeons that can do it (meaning, they have experience, and do it without causing further harm).

I know lots of people who have been revised from RNY to DS (DS also has a sleeve stomach), but the stand alone sleeve and the RNY have about he same results (according to studies, not just my opinion) at 5 years out, so not sure why you'd bother to go to the extra danger of another surgery for a comparable outcome.

Why is it you need to revise - is it lack of weight loss, or other things related to the stoma like dumping or reactive hypoglycemia? If your weight loss was good but you have problems with the RNY stoma, then a revision to sleeve could make sense, but if you just didn't lose enough weight, or have regained and need to lose again, then you may want the big gun of WLS which is the DS (also sleeved stomach, but with malabsorbtion as well, and is the most effective of all the WLSs for weight loss, maintenance of loss, and resolution of co-morbidities, and regain the use of your own pyloric valve like the sleeve, so not the dumping and reactive hypoglycemia issues associated with RNY).

If having your RNY revised to a sleeve or DS, I would not go to just any surgeon, but only one of the surgeons on this list. These are the vetted surgeons that actually do them, not say they do and talk you into something unproven. Good luck!

I am not sure it is even possible since the pouch is left so small tree is. Really very little to work with.

I had the RNY almost 9 years ago. I lost and kept off 180 lbs. 6 months ago I started having abd pain with nausea and vomiting. Then I started losing weight and it kept falling off. They ran all types of tests and scopes and could find nothing wrong. My bariatric dr had left town and I had not been following up with anyone since I had been doing ok. My GI dr sent me to a bariatric specialist who said I had an internal hernia from the RNY and I also had an intermittent intussusception in my small intestine. I just had a revision done on March 4th where I had  a laparotomy with lysis of adhesions, gastric bypass revision RNY to gastric sleeve, small bowel resection and a jejuneostomy feeding tube placed. Today I am 2 weeks post op. Almost pain free. I do not have any of the pain or nausea or vomiting that I had preop. The only pain I have is surgical pain. I am planning on going back to work for a couple of hours a day starting on Monday. So, it is possible to have the sleeve revision. Just make sure you do all your research before you go in and ask plenty of questions. I'm very glad I did it.

Thank you all for your responses.

In a nutshell...had RNY in 2006...had RNY Revision in 2012 because of an ulcer and I lost about 40lbs. and then became pregnant about 6 months later. Now it is 2016 and I keep gaining weight...it could be anything..stretched stomach, birth control, not eating properly (45 with a 2 year old..everything is throw off, lol), etc. etc.  I have started watching what I eat, doing a bit of exercise (bad back).  BUT I am also having stomach pains here and there and not like I had with the Ulcer.  I haven't been to my surgeon yet, just asking some questions now before I decide to go see him to see if it is anything wrong or just LIFE ISSUES and needing to go back to basics.

Again..thank you for your comments.
