Possible Revision Sleeve -> Bypass -- Trying to Fastrack
Greetings everyone!
I've been thinking about a revision from sleeve to bypass after consulting with my surgeon. She wanted to see my CT Scan of my hiaital hernia before moving forward. I have not seen her since she got the scan. Now I have a v. time-sensitive issue in that we'll be changing medical insurance Jan. 1. I know my current insurance will pay for a revision. I wonder if it's realistic to ask for a "fast track" so that I can have the surgery by the end of the year. Has anyone had a similar experience?
Many thanks!

I have no personal experience to share as my ins does not cover any type of WL help. However I have read of others with similar issues and in all the cases I have read the Dr was helpful in getting them scheduled asap while they had ins that would cover the care they needed. I hope you can get your surgery before Jan 1st.
I can't get my insurance to cover my revision, I had 4 surgeons to include the Mayo Clinic appeal their decision, but they said there's no proof that the revision will resolve my issues. The doctors said if I don't have the by pass my chances of stomach and esophageal cancer are 90%. I don't know what to do.

Why is there such a strong change of stomach and esophageal cancer? Do you have the sleeve? Just curious because I have acid reflux with my sleeve but it is controlled with meds. I am moving towards having a DS revision, so I would keep my current stomach. None of my doctors have been concerned about my reflux, but it is a concern of mine, the fear of esophageal cancer.
Thanks!

I am so sorry you find yourself in this position. At this point the only thing I can think of is to fund the surgery yourself. If your budget is like most people's then the only way to do this would be to go to Mexico. There are loans available for surgery there and many Drs that do revisions. My ins pays for nothing to do with WL and that was the route that I took. If need be you could start a GoFundMe page to get help. You shouldn't have to go through this but medical care is not what it should be in this country. I wish you good luck whatever you decide to do.
