"stop eating cheetos"?!?
Did you say you actually had been eating cheetos, or did he just surmize this because you are fat?
Before I had my DS, I went to a Dr to help me figure out what was wrong as I'd been going to the gym 6 days a weeks for 2.5 years, and had eliminated most fat from my diet and as maintaining my weight at less than 1200 calories a day.
When he told me to stay away from burgers and milkshakes, I learned that even Drs can be ignorant, and fired him and changed healthcare. I hadn't had a burgery or mildshake since I was 9 and 12 years old. He was too stupid or lazy to see what other metabolic issues I was battling, and thought since I was fat, I must also be an idiot and be eating crap as well as a liar when I told him what I was actually eating.
If Alverdy made that cheeto comment in that same way, he should be told where he can stick those cheetos.
I met with Dr. Tiesenga the other day. I wasn't really impressed. I asked for a pamphlet for the Apollo, he and the nurse looked dumbfounded. I didn't feel very confident in the procedure and asked questions like on average what percentage of excess body weight did people lose. He replied that there was a lady that lost over 100lbs.... but that wasn't my question.
anyway, I'm interested in knowing know that you are 2.5 years out.... how did it go for you? was there much followup care with Dr. Tiesenga?
thanks

1) Had the Apollo overstich at Evanston Northshore University Hospital on 11/11. Dr. Michael Ujiki. Very kind, good doctor, has done over a thousand of these (starting with the ROSE procedure).
2) No pain in my pouch either.
3) Not really a fat lip, but my lips were dry and sore from intubation
4) Didn't have the "muscle pain" until day 2 - HOLY WOW.
5) I'm only on Day 3 and I am MISERABLE on the liquids. My nurse/dietitian tell me to up my protein. I did 80 grams today and still get hunger pangs. This all liquid diet just doesn't cut it!
6) I've been doing cream-based soups. And adding mashed potato flakes for a bit of substance. I also eat the "bits" in the soup - mushroom bits, or broccoli bits.
7) I don't mind salt - but try to stay away. I worry that I'll gain from all of the salt in the soups.
8) I don't mind sweets (always been a downfall!), but I get sick of all the sweet-flavored protein powders. I just ordered an unflavored one, and a chicken-flavored one from Unjury (highly recommended brand by my doctor).
9) This procedure made me realize how much I'd turned to food when I was bored. I was off work for 3 days and now have the weekend home. HOLY WOW am I bored. *LOL* Have to reprogram myself to find new ways to occupy my time!
10) Worry that my weight loss will be minimal - which would just depress me to all get-out.
11) SO looking forward to getting off the liquids. Even mushy food sounds AMAZING. *LOL*
And finally, a question. Did you have any issues with gas?
