I started the process on Marh 31 and the nurse submitted my information this morning. Just recevied the call that everything is  approved. I had the LAP Gastric Bypass in 11/2002 and gained most of my weight back. My surgery date is 6/2/15. Super excited!! I just do not understand the code he wrote:

  •  LAP GJ REVISION

Do anyone knows what this stands for?

Do you have the CPT code? It's a 5 digit code somewhere in your approval paperwork.

I guess I need to find that out. I have not received any paperwork yet. I only received the phone call from the doctors office.

I'm assuming it means a Laparoscopic surgery to the gastric and jejunum section of your body, including revision of what mode is currently employed for your weight loss.

Congratz by the way!!!!  My package was submitted to insurance this afternoon around 3.  I am hoping to call in tomorrow and know something.  Who is your insurance?  What was the reason for revision?  All those other normal questions...  :)   I am excited for you!  I hope I hear the same soon!

Thank you. I have Anthem BCBS. The reason for the revision was just unsuccessful weight loss. I had get the Upper GI, Psych Evaluation. Cardiac Test and see the Nutritionist.... that was it. I notice that a lot of people went in already knowing what type of revision they wanted. I only asked what he suggest and he told me after I get the Upper GI we will make a decision from that.

congratulations I've been going through the process of trying to get my revision from lap band to the sleeve and my insurance denied everything including removing the band without the revision to the sleeve. I've hired healthcare advocacy Walter Lindstrom to help with my appeal. I have personal choice now but had khpe

Question....l keep seeing ppl who want revisions asking for the sleeve. Why the sleeve? Does it help keep the weight off?

The sleeve offers different pros and cons just like the gastric bypass surgery.  A lot of people like the sleeve because they do not have so much malabsorption and you don't live a life with vitamins.  It also removes the section of stomach that produces the hormone that makes you hungry.  But the weight loss can be slightly slower, and even though you are removing the portion of the stomach doesn't stretch much, it can still stretch.  Its also absolutely irreversible.  You don't have dumping syndrome with it, though.  So there are good parts and bad parts.  You have to talk with your doctor about what the best surgery is for you.
