Appeal. I can direct you to a couple of ladies (one's a lawyer, the other's a surgeon) who help people appeal and WIN, all the time. They're located in CA, and they do this work out of the goodness of their heart, not for a fee. PM me if you're interested.

Where are you located? Were you refered to Dr. Coates? I am in Tracy CA and thats who I was referred to. I guess he only does Distal revisions as well but I am trying to see if I can get in to see the doctor in SF that does Rny to DS.

I am in Newman.  I havent reviewed who i can see yet but I did see that Dr. Coates was one of the covered doctors and has good reviews. But was told he only does Distal.  I would prefer to get Band over Bypass as a revision but now with this lame insurance it will be hard. What is the hospital that is covered with HPSJ...UCSF?  is UC Davis? I know Stanford isnt and that is who I wanted to go to...DS is better than Distal right?  I still cant figure out what the difference is..

I had gone to Stanford for my RNY and although I loved my surgeon I HATED that hospital. I am going to see about getting a consult here (http://www.paclap.com/) because everything I have read says DS is better than a Distal for revision. I used to have HPSJ but now have Blue Shield of CA. Have you tried calling HPSJ and seeing if they will cover doctors in the sac or SF area?

i had mine at valley care in pleasanton but not allowed to go back to the bay area.  I have had PPOs all my life and forced to get HPSJ now...I will have to call and see what specialist hospital covered.
