Here We Go Again!!
Well, I had the lap band back in 2009 and was never successful. My food options are very limited regardless of my fill level. Finally, instead of feeling like a failure, I decided to meet with a different doc and discuss revision to a malabsorptive procedure. My insurance was verified, and it was still covered by my employer. By the time my file was sent to insurance for final approval after I met all of the requirements, it was denied because my employer's plan stop covering the procedure as of 1/1/14. Obviously the feeling of failure returned. :( Fortunately I left that employer a few months later and started working with one whose plan (United Healthcare) still covers weight loss surgery....but has much stricter requirements. Keep your fingers crossed folks!! If all goes well I will be having revision surgery at the end of the year. Hopeful is such a good feeling!!!
Hope all goes well , I had the band for 7 years and was converted to RNY in 2012 and now in the process of revising the RNY and bypassing more intestine , as I have a lot more small intestine than usual ( wish they considered that BEFORE ) I lost to my goal and stayed there a year then started a new med and gained 35-40 in about 6 weeks and I can't get it off for anything !!!!
So frustrating !!
Am excited for you , the best thing I did was get rid of the band !!!
