Hi! I used to have a band and had it removed last June. Has anyone ever heard that having had the band in the past will not let me loose as much weight with bypass surgery as a non banded person would loose???

Hi Millie,

It appears the members don't have that information and really it's a medically question.  Give your surgeon's office a call and let them know your concerns.  Don't go forward until all your questions are answered and you feel comfortable with the answsers

Hello! I had a revision on 12/8. The reason that I was given was because your body is already used to lower nutritional consumption from the band. So no, you will not lose at the rate of a "virgin" bypass who may be still taking in thousands of calories a day. The reduction in your calorie intake will not be as drastic to lose the weight quickly.
