Feeling Helpless- It Continues

I posted back in march about my issues and it continues.( http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/revision/5247512/Band-to-Sleeve-to-Bypass/)

Finally a colonoscopy has been scheduled at least something I think should have been done from the get as one of the on going issues has been diarrea. Lately it's been diarrea or I feel discomfort like I have to go but I can't The acid reflux still continue to be terrible. It's no so bad on prilosec but lord help me if I forget a pill, my day is pointless if so. I also have my food come back up at least 3x a week though I will say sometimes it happens a lot more often. Since march I have gained another 8 pounds. I still eat small portions which baffles me as the endo specialist again today said my stomach is that of a normal patient.

I just feel at a loss. Two wls surgeries all feel for nil as I continue to have these things creep up on me. On top of all that I am feeling this weight gain with constant knee pain. No one seems to understand how all these seem to add up to me constantly being in discomfort and/or pain.

When the surgeon found the sliding hernia he said it was very small so there was no need to fix it. I read through the papers and it says large hernia. The endo specialist says the food coming up could be from the hernia sliding up into the stomach. But they say this like its okay that it happens. Am I crazy or I am the only one who thinks someone consistently having their food come up is an issue?

If it were me I would be looking for new docs that listen to me. If one doesn't listen there are a hundred others who will especially in NY you should have some of the finest surgeons in the country there. Kee p making noise the squeeky wheel gets the attention!

I feel for you!  With my band, I had so much vomiting.  On my Kindle, I am having trouble pulling up your previous post but are you post revision?

As His Lady advised, Find better doctors....now!  They aren't all jackasses and you should be getting better results from your docs. Don't fear retribution or anything like that, just do what you need to do to resolve these issues. It doesn't have to be this way.

Thank you guys! I did seek one of the best when I got that second opinion, but that surgeon trained my original surgeon I believe so I think he took offense. It was nothing against my original surgeon, he was great and I'm appreciative of everything he did for me, but my follow ups with him about the bad heartburn and issues lasted all of 5 minutes and I was told to just take the omeprazole 40mg and if I needed to take zantac on top of that. My GP was not happy about that, and the gastro doctor wants me off antacids so they told me to get a second opinion. I stood with same hospital as I trust them and know they are some of the best, yet they seemed to take unkindly to that.

To answer your question I am post revision 5 yrs. I had lapband in 09 then sleeve in 10. I currently am back up 230lbs, which is honestly is the least of my problems, even though the gain is causing other health issues. I just want the heartburn to go away and to stop having my food come up. My quality of life is suffering.

Still very frustrated, but trying to seek out doctors who will listen and won't just look at me as a patient who "failed" and is looking for an easy way out. That's how it feels thus far. I don't think I'm a failure. I worked hard and I'm still trying.

So that last 3 days I've had this dull ache/discomfort in my stomach. It's a new feeling but makes me very uncomfortable. I try not to google too much or I'll end up worrying over nothing. I did read it's not common for a sliding hiatal hernia to hurt though.  What else could possibly cause discomfort in that area?

Hello

I was wondering how your doing now? I really know how you feel because I don't feel like the same person. My quality of life has changed as well because of this stupid heartburn. I have all 3 surgeries.

I'm 12 days out from the revision from the sleeve to bypass and hiatal hernia repair. I'm not sure if its just my body still in the healing process. But, I feel a slight burning sensation in my chest that goes to my back. I just don't feel the acid coming up my esophagus like before the surgery.

Before I had the surgery I was getting this nasty taste in my mouth. But they said it was not bile. I'm confused because I still get the taste but its like if I'm next to perfume or the strong orders I can taste that in my mouth.

Have you been able to find any other options that can help the GERD?

I'm so sorry I just SAW this!

Hw are you doing? Did those symptoms go away?

I will be having my revision next Thursday so I honestly didn't have any advice back when you wrote. I really hope you are well.

I am not sure what a 'sliding' hernia is... but I have what is probably an incisional hernia (not hiatal) and it causes me all kinds of nausea and vomiting if I don't take prescription prilosec. Hoping when I get it fixed that will go away... I can also fluctuate between diarrhea and constipation....
