Sleeve to RNY
I'm glad that the DS worked for you and works for so many other people. I do realize that the malabsorption of the DS last forever and that's great. The family members that I spoke to with the RNY are two and three years out. The DS is a risky surgery and if it wasn't more surgeons would be performing it. I have had more than one surgeon say that the Malabsorbtion of calories also last forever with the RNY but greatly diminishes overtime. One can still be very successful with the RNY just the same as with the DS. For me I do not want to go through with the DS and I think that's ok. I still believe there is a lot more upkeep with the DS than RNY. Maybe I will be unlucky and have to take 15 supplements a day. But I don't think that that's the norm with RNY. But I honestly do appreciate your concern and your comments.
Congrats NewMe2Be72 on your upcoming Revision surgery!!! Can you tell me who your insurance company is please? Mine is BCBS Federal and they denied me last year.
I'm going to another surgeon who is going to fix my hiatal hernia and revise the Sleeve to the RNY and my paper work will go in after I do my 4th visit with the Nutritionist.
Thanks for your reply!
No it's not. My husband works for Bank of America and it's through them. I had to do a supervised diet before the sleeve. But my surgeon looked at the revision Guidelines and says I won't have to do that again. I hope he's right. Not thrilled I have to pay over $2000 this time since I haven't met my out of pocket but I guess it could be worse. I'm anxious to get my endoscopy next week and see how things look.
