Hello!

I wanted to say hello to everyone and introduce myself as I am new to this forum.  I had a VBG done in January of 99 and on September 11th I will be having a revision to the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass.  What I am thrilled about this time is that they follow you for at least 5 years to track how you are doing so its wonderful to know there is support from the medical side and its great to find this site for the support from people who have gone through the surgery or getting ready to have the surgery.

Wishing you all the best.

I wish you well I am fairly new to the site as well. I will be having my gastric sleeve revised to the RNY on 9/8/14. Very nervous and excited. Good luck.

May I ask why you've chosen the RNY over the DS? With the DS you'd still keep your fully-functional stomach and still be able to take NSAIDs. Adding the Switch to your existing Sleeve for a complete DS would be a fairly simple surgery, and the DS has the very best long-term, maintained weight-loss stats, period.

Hi there.  When you mentioned the DS I was unsure of what you meant so I went online and read about the surgery.  The reason for the RNY is that our health care only does the following surgery's RNY, VSG which are covered and paid for, and the adjustable band which isnt covered and you have to pay out of pocket.

I completely understand the excitement and nervousness as well. Im in a nervous state today but know this is the best choice for my health.  I wish you all the best on September 8th!

Congrats on your revision!!!  I too want a revision from VSG to RNY.  I have severe acid reflux.  I actually had a LAP BAND in 2008 which did not work for me.  I lost 17 lbs and gained 14 lbs, I also developed a Hiatal Hernia.  In 2009 I had the VSG and lost 30 lbs and gained 20 lbs and my acid reflux became worse and Hiatal Hernia got bigger.  I don't know if BCBS Federal will cover it the RNY though.  They covered the LB, but the VSG I did self pay.

Best wishes to you!!!
